Well, I guess I should explain what this is all about.
Hi, my name is Scott, and I have an addiction, an addiction to army starting and plastic/metal crack. This is a major problem. And this is my attempt to deal with it.
As long as I can remember, I've been an incorrigible modeller; always starting conversions and armies and games and pretty much anything that took my fancy. It has cost me dearly. I don't know how much money I've spent on my plastic/metal crack addiction, and I have nothing concrete to show for it. No army I can point to and say "I did that", hell, I don't really even have a single cohesive unit that I can point to and say "I did that" about. That is just wrong.
Coming up on a year ago now, I lost my job; I wasn't attached to it as such, but it was an income, and allowed me to provide for my small family. I had just bought the Ogre Battalion when it happened, and so I decided to make the most of things and work at turning my battalion into an army. Over time, and countless lists later, I thought I had settled on a list that I would be able to play with. It was to revolve around a Firebelly/Leadbelcher unit with Shooty Maneaters and support. I'd even converted a Firebelly and an extra Leadbelcher to fill out the unit properly; but then it happened. I was distracted/inspired by something else which would make me restart (kinda) the army again.
Anyone who enjoys watching Disney movies, or has a child who enjoys watching Disney movies would probably have seen the big one from a couple of years ago "Tangled" the new take on the Rapunzel story. My daughter, delight that she is, had been watching it at least once a day for a week straight, and always insisting that I watch it with her (since her mother is out to work these days). It's a pretty good movie, some funny stuff, some stupid stuff, and the perfect amount of Disney nonsense to make it bearable. Anyway, one day I was watching it with her yet again, when I noticed that one particular character looked rather Ogre-like, except for his size. I had been working on the Ogre regiment and still had a few Ogres to build, so as is sensible, I built this thug in plastic (with a little poetic license). And so my list changed yet again - and this time for the final time. I have had enough, this addiction is going down.
Oh, what a wall-o-text.
On to the project stuff.
The Tribe of the Tangled Hook features a Butcher inspired by the Hook-Hand Thug from Tangled, and some stuff I'd built/converted previously.
The 1000pt list is as follows:
It's not particularly competitive, but then again, I'm in it for the fun not the competition.
Incidentally, the Gnoblars are the Command options (Standard and Musician)
Butcher @ 178.0 pts (General)
- Level 2 Upgrade: Lore of the Great Maw
- Ironfist; Sword of Striking; Dispel Scroll
8 Ogres @ 276.0 pts
- Bellower; Standard Bearer; Ironfist
3 Leadbelchers @ 139.0 pts
2 Ogre Mournfang Cavalry @ 165.0 pts
- Bellower; Standard Bearer; Ironfist; Heavy Armour; Gleaming Pennant
Total Roster Cost: 1000.0
Picture time I think. These are all pre-GS WIPs, I have some GS, but I need to find time to get working on it/learn how to manipulate it properly.
I guess the first Ogre I should show is the Butcher, the guy who started the list
I still have to GS him a gut, and a belt to suit the original inspiration, and a few straps for various bits of gear, but nothing excessive.
The front (command) rank of the Ogre Regiment follows (including the Butcher)
And rear rank
The Giant I've had sitting around for ages, infact the only thing that I've done to it recently was to add a gutplate from the Stonehorn kit (which I got with some bitz I needed for another conversion I've been working on)
Although there are only 3 Leadbelchers in the initial list, I've got 4 built for later lists.
That's all I've got done for the 1000pt list so far, I've got a couple of Chrace Lions to turn into Sabretusks, and I have to fund the couple of Mournfangs still, but that should happen fairly soon; but that is the majority of the army ready for GS and paint.
