[Aristocrap]

So I made a mechanized 1000 list, but I've taken a slight interest in Alaitoc and wanted to build a list from it's ranger theme in case I decided to paint up my Eldar as Alaitocs. The list is supposed to concentrate not on smashing the opponent, nor agressiveness, but picking them off and using factors like pinning, doom, ect. as a "thorn in the side."

It doesn't look bad if you're far away from the opponent but its way too specialist for a 1000 point army. I would say one squad of rangers at most. Warp spiders are too expensive for 1000 point. keep your fire dragons and put in at least two dire aveger squads with transports. hope this helps.

Well the theme is rangers/pathfinders. I could take out one pathfinder squad, but removing any more wouldn't make it seem very Alaitoc, would it? I was thinking of dropping the Spiders and adding a Scorpion squad to protect the Pathfinders from CC units.

-Farseer goes with DA and Dooms units
-Scorps protect Pathfinders as a counter-charge unit or infiltrate and lock units in CC, ensuring the Dragons don't get shot at much when they disembark
-Dragons zoom forward and pop tanks under the cover of DAs and/or Scorps
-Pathfinders sit on objectives and annoy the opponent with pinning tests

This looks better already but even though the theme is rangers pathfinders two squads is just impractical for a 1000 point army.

Hmm, I suppose. What if I wanted to fit this into a 1500 point list? I think it'd be easier with more points to work with. I could drop a squad of pathfinders and downgrade the other to rangers, then combining them into an 8-10 man unit. (Which was suggested on Warseer)

that sounds good. On a 1500 point list i would also add fire prisms.

if possible it would be good to stick fortune on the farseer too (with spirit stones) so one of your units is defended against shooting/melee attacks, for rangers that could mean rerollable 2+ cover saves.
