[1000] Emperor's Children - Swiss Army Knife

The reason why I call this a Swiss Army Knife army is because it is meant to be well-balanced in both Close Combat and shooting with my CC units tying up (and possibly destroying) most units in combat and my shooting units gunning down whatever the CC units can't reach. The two armies I have in mind for this force to deal with are the Alpha Legion and Tyranids (there are many others but these two are the ones I am most worried about. Dark Angels, Space Wolves, and the like are the usual crazy stuff - any tactics you can contribute would be appreciated).
