[1000] Fallen Dark Angels

This army uses Alpha Legion rules but is based around the Fallen Dark Angels. The Fallen featured in this warband have turned far from the Emperor's light and have found each other over the course of centuries, drawn by the call of one of their dark Librarians who obeyed Luther's commands under the orders of Lion El'Jonson. I won't elaborate much on the background here but they basically appear in random places according to their Sorcerer's divinations and to represent this, they can Infiltrate as per the Alpha Legion rules.

As you have no doubt guessed, this army is very shooty. Lots of tankbusting firepower, even though this list isn't too groundbreaking. I have considered dropping two Missile Launchers for Aspiring Champions but other than that, I don't know how I'm going to make this list very good at fighting in CC. I'm going to deploy so that I can try and catch units in crossfires if at all possible. Oh, and the Missile Launchers are a personal preference; I don't really like Autocannons that much.

That is a very shoot list.

For close combat you could add some raptors, bikes or cultists (cultists basically cannon fodder that ties enemy cc squads up). Or you could give one CSM squad bps and ccws to be placed with the librarian.

Other than the missing cc nice list.
Meltaguns are traditionally used in an assault role, so I assume they're armed with Bolt Pistol/CCW? Bolters don't fit all that well with Meltaguns. In order to get close enough to even get a shot off at an enemy unit you're putting yourself in range of counter-assault, so those units will need something that gives them a fighting edge. You can't really claim that they're anti-tank, since you have plenty of that in your Havoc squads.

I think you'd be best going with the idea of dropping a ML from each Havoc squad and dropping in a Power fisted Champion into those units. In 1000 points I can't imagine seeing too many needs for four Missile Launchers in each squad. Three should be sufficient for cracking open any normal tank you see. If you drop one ML trooper (leaving seven marines and three MLs) then you can afford two Champs for each unit with 12 points left over - you can then run the Lt. in the third squad and give him Daemonic Strength.

If you are planning on going pure shooty however, then you'll want to swap out those Meltaguns for Plasmaguns. Doing this will allow you to get away with having only one countercharge unit. It also has the added benefit of being fluffy for ex-Dark Angels. For instance, you could make two units Bolter/Plasma, leaving the third with Meltaguns/BP/CCW and have the Lt. join that squad. They can then be an effective counter-charge unit to mop up when the guns are finished.

Also as you are alpha leagion if you drop the Mark undivided from the havocs, for the same points they can infiltrate too.
Wasn't the dark angels a close combat army ? I don't remember. Anyway, for a thousand point army, it's excellent. Good job.
It is an excellent list. It made me think how few troops my lists have. But the melta comments are pretty good, I don't really see much poit for them in mixed units. But where's cypher?
