Hello everyone,

I appreciate all the feedback I received with the list I made a while back. However, I wondered if I could improve the list by changing from a chaos sorcerer to an exalted hero. For those that don't recall my list, here is the loadout:

Chaos Sorcerer
-Level 2 Wizard
-Mark of Tzeentch
-Third Eye of Tzeentch
-Infernal Puppet
-Talisman of Protection
( 215 )

Chaos Warriors X18
-Mark of Tzeentch
-Shields
-Halberds
-Standard Bearer
-Musician
-Banner of Swiftness
( 359 )

Chaos Marauders X40
-Mark of Khorne
-Great Weapons
-Standard Bearer
-Musician
( 242 )

Marauder Horsemen X5
-Mark of Khorne
-Light Armour
-Flails
-Standard Bearer
( 122 )

Chaos Warhounds X5
( 30 )

Chaos Warhounds X5
( 30 )

Total: 998

I wanted to know what people think of changing the sorcerer to an exalted hero. Is this a good idea? Any suggested hero designs are welcome. I have considered the following idea...basically an exalted hero built like a terrifying tank.

Exalted Hero
-Mark of Khorne
-Collar of Khorne
-Juggernaut of Khorne
-Enchanted Shield or Talisman of Protection

the answer is no, but this could be improved in other ways also imo

Chaos Sorcerer
-Level 2 Wizard
-Mark of Tzeentch
-Third Eye of Tzeentch
-Infernal Puppet
-Talisman of Protection
( 215 )

hes built like a supporting sorcerer in a bigger list, id rethink him. the puppet is nice but in smaller games hardly necessary. go for charmed shield, spell familiar and either tali of endurance or collar of khorne, or even opal amulet and some other cheap funky options. hes your single character so requires a bit of protection and having access to three spells in small games will also be good when the winds are strong, lore of T is pretty good, especially in small games where even call to glory can give you a significant boost. saving 25 points

Chaos Warriors X18
-Mark of Tzeentch
-Shields
-Halberds
-Standard Bearer
-Musician
-Banner of Swiftness
( 359 )

too big at this level i feel, 15 maximum id say at 1k and consider swapping swiftness for eternal flame, speed is good, being able to completely deny the person who thought theyd bring a hydra in a small game is better. take mok, a 6++ is not as good as throwing out all those extra str 5 attacks. saving 46 points

Chaos Marauders X40
-Mark of Khorne
-Great Weapons
-Standard Bearer
-Musician
( 242 )

great unit

Marauder Horsemen X5
-Mark of Khorne
-Light Armour
-Flails
-Standard Bearer
( 122 )

definitly lose standard bearer and light armour, total waste of points. if your going to take the unit up it to 6, that initial charge is going to be all important and the extra guy helps. costs you 4 extra points

Chaos Warhounds X5
( 30 )

i think you only need one in this size game, as your rocking horsemen youve already got a 4 drops with one unit and the plus one for first turn with the horsemen vanguard move is probably a good idea. saves 30 points

Total: 998

its a decent list and those are simply the changes id make. youd have 96 points saved i think and if you dropped the horsemen (their just not as good as they used to be unfortunatly) you could get a decent sized unit of trolls or even some knights instead.

its (unfortunately) not a great idea, having no magic at all will out you in some bad situations, some games it wont matter and the extra killing power will be good but as everyone else uses a mage in small games youll be at an instant disadvantage and not taking part in 2 full parts of the turn

randomspecific,

thank you for your feedback. A bit disappointing to have the exalted hero not be a good choice on a small game. Considering your comments I have developed this list.

Chaos Sorcerer
-Level 2 Wizard
-Third Eye of Tzeentch
-Spell familiar
-Enchanted Shield
-Talisman of Protection
( 210 )

Chaos Marauders X40
-Mark of Khorne
-Great Weapons
-Standard bearer
-Musician
( 242 )

Chaos Warhounds X5
( 30 )

Chaos Warriors X15
-Mark of Khorne
-Shields
-Halberds
-Standard bearer
-Musician
-Banner of the eternal flame
( 313 )

Chaos Knights X5
( 200 )

Total
( 995 )

I considered spell familiar actually with my first list, but a few seemed in favor of infernal puppet. I did consider using trolls, but it left a fair chunk of points untouched, and seemed less effective if having to work around a sorcerer in my opinion. Knights, even at the basic level, are a pretty fearsome force.

Give this guy charmed shield instead of enchanted shield, it's 10 point's less and since your not packing infernal puppet anymore, ignoring a high strength attack on the miscast table is well worth it. Is this guy marked? If not what lore are you taking?

Chaos Marauders X40
-Mark of Khorne
-Great Weapons

Nice!

Chaos Warhounds X5

Chaos Warriors X15

-Musician
-Banner of the eternal flame

Chaos Knights X5

The rest of the list looks solid, best of luck!
