This is a list for a 1200 point tournament and it will be my first tournament list so help would be appreciated here is a link for the tournament details

I intend to run one zoanthrope with each group of gaunts and either outflank or infiltrate the broodlord and the genestealers can both scuttle or outflank. although im not sure the zoanthropes will be able to keep up with the gaunts. Can zoanthropes join groups like independent characters?

Personally i would drop the toxin sacs off everything except the broodlord, and drop the spinegaunt squads down to 8.

Also, everything NEEDS feeder tendrils. This is a must.

The extended carapace on the genestealers is also debatable. There are 3 effective builds....

1. Feeder Tendrils + Scuttlers
2. Feeder Tendrils + Extended carapace
3. Feeder Tendrils + Scuttlers + Extended carapace

The first is preferable, the second still needs to use cover, and the third is getting overpriced.

Keep them cheap, because 5th edition has killed the effectiveness of genestealers. Not just the rending, but more so the fact that they cant consolidate into close combat anymore.
You want to be killing things in the opponents assault phase, and if you dont then they will die EASILY, as they are a high target priority and die so easily to shooting.

Ok i agree with a lot of what joe-blogs has said so to build on it, here are my thoughts.

Broodlord doesnt need Ag, drop them.

He is also absolutly right about the stealers, drop the toxin sacs and replace with feeders. For the retinue, dont add feeders, just drop sacs.

I recogmend not running them up the feild either. Any player with Large blats who sees stealers like this will go "Oh no scary genestealers. Better kill them" and splatter them off the feild within 2 turns or so. Much better off outflanking.

Guants are hideously bad. You have next to no synapse, and if you outflank them, the zoans will have to run up the side, reducing their effectiveness greatly. Drop these, except for 1 squad of 8. to objective hold. Plus they are next to useless in combat, just use 1 squad of an OB holder.

Under few circumsatnces should you Infilrate a BL. Its a great unit, but is so scary that it gets bombed almost imidiatly. He dosnt have speed on his side either as he cant fleet.

Now comes the worst problem, you have no anti-tank, your genestealers are the only things that come close, zoans are far too unreliable. You need some sort of MC in their, either a boom fex if short on points or preferably a CC flyrant, fast and dangerous.

Crushing claws was to fill in some points and i find them useful sometimes.

Broodlord and retinue will infiltrate

genestealers will outflank

Swap the crushing claws on Carni-1 with the venom cannon on Carni-2, so you have one with ST/CC and one with BS/VC.

Drop the scything talons off the retinue genestealers, they have enough killing power already.

I would consider dropping those 2 carnifexes in favour of 4 cheaper ones with the extra points picked up from the scything talons.

Good, but it really dosnt need adrenal glands. apart from speeping bonuses, the only things you then outspeed are the pheonix lords, who will get killed by the squad anyway so you dont need to go first. Take them off

Nice, but what about synapse, you have 1 thrope, which will die.Then your guants panic and run up the feild toward the BL. Id get some Dspitter warriors in their.

A bit useless, 1 isnt great on its own

Nice but its confused, ranged and melee on a fex isnt generally good, you either shoot and dont run so your very slow, or you run and waste the gun. As a personal opionion drop exoskelton and use the points for some other upgrades, eg Adrenal glands.

NOOOOO it was all going so well :soldier: Think about it for a second. TLoS is almost impossible to achive without being ridicoulsly out of position. So you will deploy 18"+ away. Its quite likly youll have to be 20-22" due to overlapping troops. So you cant get into combat first turn. Your opponent will either run away, or simply shoot them. This wont work.

genestealers will outflank

gaunts and zoanthrope will hold down the fort

Good, but as said, you need synapse.

carnifexes will probably stomp forward shooting

Lastly, im just going to agree with everything Joe posted just then, but if you want to have the hyper fexs then in low points what you have youd be ok. But thats up to you.

Looks ok, but switch the venom cannon and the crushing claws around.

Have one with ST/CC and one with VC/BS.

Also consider one or 2 dakkafexes instead of scythed fexes.

Hang on, wait, i just realised a massive problem...

Carnifexes can only be taken as an elite choice in 1500+ points.

Change 2 of the carnifexes for a winged tyrant.

Get a hive tyrant and either warhammer fantasy dragon wings or balrog wings.

If i was you, i would hold off buying anything until the new codex is released though.

cool but how do you think the army will work in relation to the tournament? I THINK I WILL be fecked when i come to bean counter.

Couple of final adjusments im going to recogmend,

Swap the Barbed strangler and tallons. As i said, a fex with combat and shooty in mind is doomed to fail. As for why youd shoot a BS at A VC target, theirs loads of reasons. Its very good Versus transports, can still hurt heavyer armour with a bit of luck and is brilliant a wipeing out plauge marines to name a few. Siriously get them specialised.


Swap the devourer warriors for deathspitters, devs dont really lend themselves to warriors too well. Take deathspitters.

devourer warriors have worked well for me in the past so i will keep them.

Changed the fexes now. one of the reasons why i had them like that is i glued my carnifex like that before i had realized what a bad combo it is (SIGH)



But how do you think this will play regarding the tournament rules? (i dont think compilation will be good)

Compsition will be awful, but any nid list that isnt swarm (or occasionally, stealer spam) will do badly there. Its basically those poor saps going "oh no a very decent list, wed better make sure it cant do too well" I went to a tournament scored in much the same way, and despite the fact their was both a Eldar-zilla and a deamon-zilla list, my nids scord the lowest. Just one of those things really. it will get worse in the new codex i suspect but you just gotta live with it.

As for dev wariors, you could do a lot better, at the moment the shot is S3. With the deathspitters you have a S5 shot, and you can save points on ES. And the deathspitters have an Ap of 5. I cant help feeling your doing yourself a discervice, but if you think they work then go for it.
