Hi. I'm new to space marines (normally a guard player) so I thought I'd trouble you all for a little advice. Any feedback greatly appriciated. I've tried to balance anti-tank and assault so see what you think...

Emperor's Champion-Accept any challenge, no matter the odds 140

crusader squad- 10 initiates 226

- plasma gun

crusader squad- as above 226

assault squad- 10 marines 240
- 2x plasma pistol
- power weapon

predator annihilator- lascannon 148
- smoke launchers

You have an assult squad in your list so make this a normal chaplain with a jump pack and have him join the assult squad. --master of sanctity- terminator honours- bolt pistol- frags- jump pack- 137

A shooty terminator squad would be better, unless you are going to deepstrike with these??

Dont mix shooty weapons like plasma guns and heavy weapons into the same squad as Closr combat weapons like powerfists etc. make them single purpose. change the plasma gun to a melta gun to make this an assulty squad. And make the other one a 5-6 man squad with lascannon, plasma gun, & 3-4 bolters. Use the extra spare points to give the assulty tac squad a drop pod.

assault squad- 10 marines 240

Good ;) as i said, have the chaplain join this squad. if you charge into assult the chaplain will allow you to re-roll and misses to hit. and youll be rolling between 20-30 dice...nasty stuff..:shifty:

predator annihilator- lascannon 148
- smoke launchers
good, just change the side sponsons to heavy bolters. bcoz they count as defensive weapons and therefore if you move the tank 6" you can shoot the main turret AND the Heavy bolters. Lascannon sponsons cannot shoot if u move. i would probably change the smoke launchers for extra armour too. up to you though.

Let us know how many points these changes would leave you with. (if your going to make them that is)

Thanks for the tips. Those changes would leave me about 300 points. how about a LR crusader to transport the assault tactical squad? any other suggestions appriciated.

300 hmm.. take another squad of troops, you can never have too many marines. another 5 man shooty squad with lascannon will cost about 100 points. i would consider using the remaining 200 points on a bike squadron

Personally i rather like the pred anhil, its a high armour lascannon squad i just plonk mine in an open spot and shoot away, its far less likely to die than say a heavy weapons squad of the same points

But the bikes are cool espiaclly against low (S) troops. Just one of mine has claimed 2 Imperial Hevy Weapons squads, and a command squad due to its toughness

Have never read the Black Templar codex so wont question the rest, looks cool:p
