Hi guys.. First timer in the Dark elves part, and this is rather coincidencial to be honest.
But I've got some question for you guys, as I'd like some advise from some seasoned veterans in the art of killing for Khaine.

See, There's a double tournament coming up in April 2010, 2x750points worth of army.

My idea for this army would be to add the element of competative artillery and personal touch. I'm not a hardcore gamer, and I'm not a 'ardboy.. But that being said, I'd still like some advise for huge mistakes or unseen trouble heading my way.

So far, my army will be mixed of Dark elves and Undead, having the ranged finess and beastial undeath working together in a mix.

Dark Elves:
Hero
- Sorceress
- level 2
- Tome of Furion
. Pendant of Khaeleth.

Core
- 12 Dark Elf Repeater Xbowmen
- 13 Dark Elf Repeater Xbowmen
- 12 Dark Elf Repeater Xbowmen
- 5 Harpies
- 5 Harpies
Special
- 5 Shades

745 points

Vampire Counts:
Hero
- Vampire
- Summon Ghouls
- Flayed Hauberk
- Ghoulkin

- Vampire
- Summon Ghouls
- Sword of Kings
- Hunter of the Night

Core
- 15 Ghouls
- 15 Ghouls

Rare
- Varghulf

745 points

What do you guys think?
Would this work against other duel armies?

Cheers,
Dethklaat

I've made an identical post on the Vampire forum for those interested.

If you are going to use a rare slot for a 175 point monster, the hydra is better by far. It might be a bit tricky to get that in, but you can easily ditch a unit of crossbows, bring the other down to 10, and drop a unit of harpies. Should still have plenty of shooting. The hydra is harder to kill and has enough unit strength to take ranks away.

I see your point in this, but I first thought was to have the division of the two armies, and what they represented. That, and my budget for the army.

I have none of the models, so thus far the vampires are only 70punds in purchase. But I'll look into removing the Varghulf for a Hydra.

Using the extra vampire points for Fell bats, and more equipment for the vampires themselves might prove it's worth, if I remove all the Harpies. But yeah, will give this another look.

After looking at the prices for the armies, I've unfortunately decided against the Hydra. I can't at this point afford a £35 model, seeing as I still have 3 every large models to finish at the same cost rate.

That being said, I actually liked the fell bat/better equipped vampires, but will use some more time to rethink this again.
