Thanks!

Needs more plasma. Tournaments are packed full of marine players... if you have the models to do so, swap out all those grenade launchers with plasma guns.

Looks decent, aside from that. I tend to give my anti-tank teams Light Infantry instead of sharpshooters, but that's just the way I roll.
I would, but buying 5 more blisters (about $75 Canadian) doesn't really justify the plasma gun (especially since you get a melta gun too). The Grenade Launcher is a very versitile weapon, working especialy well with a Missile Launcher! Plasma guns, with the new rules, have a great chance of killing the guard opperating it. If doing 2 shots, the chance of killing the guardsman is 44%, while shooting at long range the chance is reduced to 10% but you still only hit with a BS of 3 which makes there point cost seem almost too much...

Any other comments?
Looks good to me, lotsa troops and even more tanks.

My only thoughts are that you are vulnerable to CC, but thats the nature of IMP guard.

I typically put a PF on my officer and use them to at least slow down incoming CC squads.
My 2 cents, but it works with my default list (which is similar to yours).

It has saved me in a couple of games.
I am planning on 'gang-beating' any enemies that get close enough to my lines with 40 conscript bodies that will be supported by the commanding officers leadership... theres no assault threat that 80 attacks on the charge can't fix!

I was originaly thinking about giving my officers power fists, but then remembered that with the new rules they can be singled out in assault, making them even more vulnerable to enemy attacks  so I dropped them. If I am wrong on this (I hope in some way) please correct me as it would be a great asset to my list (I'll just need to find where I'll get the points )
HQ
  • Command Platoon [130]
    • Junior Officer
      -Honorifica Imperialis
      -Laspistol
      -Power Weapon
      -Tradmark Item
      -Iron Discioline
    • Commissar
      -Laspistol
      -Power Weapon
Drop the trade mark item, a Standard Bearer is much better, also that Commissar just begs for a powerfist. Give him one and laugh as you smish things with it.

  • Ati-Tank Squad [115]
    -3 Lascannons
    -Sharpshooters
Excellent. I like this.

Elites
  • 8 Storm Troopers [108]
    -Infiltrate
    -2 Plasma Guns
Mmmm, looks ok.

Troops
  • Infantry Platoon
    • Command Squad [77]
      • Junior Officer
        -Bolt Pistol
        -Close Combat Weapon
        -Iron Discipline
      • Veteran
        -Medic
      -2 Plasma Guns

  • Hmmm, I don't like giving anything more dangerous than a heavy bolter to platoon command squads, but some people do.

    • Infantry Squad [93]
      -Sharpshooters
      -Grenade Launcher
      -Missile Launcher

    • Infantry Squad [93]
      -Sharpshooters
      -Grenade Launcher
      -Missile Launcher

    • Infantry Squad [88]
      -Sharpshooters
      -Grenade Luancher
      -Heavy Bolter

    • Infantry Squad [88]
      -Sharpshooters
      -Grenade Luancher
      -Heavy Bolter

    • Infantry Squad [88]
      -Sharpshooters
      -Grenade Luancher
      -Heavy Bolter
Sharpshooters is not cost effective in infantry squads. Drop it. Also for just 2 points more per squad, you could have lovely plasmaguns rather than Grenade Launchers.

  • 40 Conscripts [160]
IMO conscripts are pretty useless. But maybe they'll do the trick for you.

Heavy Support
  • Leman Russ [165]
    -Lascannon
    -Heavy Bolters

  • Leman Russ [165]
    -Lascannon
    -Heavy Bolters

  • Basilisk [125]
    -Indirect Fire
That's all good.

I had the same thoughts, and I asked around for a solution:

Once you know the joy of Plasma, you'll never go back...

Don't forget Commissars aren't ICs so they are good candidates for the powerfist as they can hide behind the other 4 staff members.
I agree: drop the grenades. Also, escher plasma guns can be bought off of the GW online store, and they look great. Drop sharpshooters, and I am not sure about the conscripts. I have seen them die so quickly that they actually sped up the unit that charged them. And they stink royally in close combat. But, good list.

You can bitz order the plasmagunner model for approximately half the cost of the blister. I did this with my Steel Legion. I think they were $5.50. That's less than 30 bucks to fill out your squads with plasmaguns.
Ok, so what I'm getting is that conscripts aren't worth it, and that sharpshooters are a waste on the normal infantry squad. I know that I'll be facing a lot of 3+ saves, but I would like to stick to the Grenade Launchers as my Special Weapon of choice. Im thinking of dropping the Commissar all together to save some points, and add in another Infantry Platoon (obviously for the other Troop choice)...

What do you think of these changes?
I was under the impression Officers in the Guard were not IC, and so can only be picked out in a combat by an IC in Base to base...
Most of the previous comments I agree with, like more plasma.

Small note, I like to have Hull Heavy Bolter with Sponson Heavy Bolters on my Russes. Saves points and is a fairly easy mod.

Cheers.......don't you hate not having all things you know will make your list better, and then costing them out........
