I really think that although very expensive, it is possible to do a decent list with Canis and Njal. The models are amazing and I want to field them in a list that, although not highly competitive, still puts a good fight most times.

So, without further ado, here’s what I came up with:

Some considerations:
+ Power fisted WG joins the GH pack.
+ Canis joins the Fenrisian pack
+ Njal Joins the WG with 3 terminators and 3 power armor
+ Wolf Priest joins Blood Claws

The list is thigh and I revise it several times already. I know it is armor light and it was designed this way. The idea was to use Canis and Fenrisian wolves, have fun with Njal and still have a competitive list to play with.

So, what do you think?

I think it's too much potatoes and not enough meat. In casual play, it's ok because you will lose your fair share. If you want your army to be taken more seriously, then you're going to have to redo it.

You've got over 1/3 of your army vested on the HQ's (potatoes) and not enough on your troop choices (meat). I'd advise drop the wolf priest and blood claws and add 2 units of Grey Hunters instead. Then allocate some of your wolfguards to your troop units. It's the troop choices that make for balanced lists, and it's the troops (excepting fenrisian wolves) who can claim objectives. You don't have enough troops, you're always at a disadvantage. Simple as that. I'd recommend at least 3 scoring troop choices at 1500.

I can see your point, and I have thought about doing that. If I let loose the Wolf Priest and the Blood Claws pack, that adds up to 350 points, the exact amount needed for two Grey Hunter packs with rhinos.

Problem is that I’d have to sacrifice the wolf guard configuration to add extra power fists and assign guards to the new packs, leaving Njal with fewer models on his squad, not counting that I’ve lost a heck of a hard hitting squad. The Blood Claw squad led by the priest can pretty much destroy anything they attack while a Grey Hunter pack with WG leader is not as deadly.

lol, the old potatoes and meat critism tactic ^^. Jy2 has no diea what's he's on about. I think he was just very hungry and that in fact he wants more bodies in their to consume because he really is a nid ^^. lol

Just echoing Jy2's comments, however i would reccomend 4 troops in 1500 points to be competitive.

I'll third that opinion about having at least three scoring troops. Two units of GH aren't that hard to kill, but 3 makes it start looking slightly difficult. At 4 units of GH you'll probably have to wipe the army to eliminate all the troops. Personally I haven't really had problems with having 3 units of troops, but I also like to play with plenty of wolf guard so my opponent generally has other things to worry about.

Personally I'm not a big fan of having so many points stuck up in HQ choices. Even just Canis+Njal seems like a lot of points. I can generally get three HQs for that price (WL w/ 2xWC, RA, BoR, SotWB @220pts, RP w/ Chooser @110pts, WGBL w/ FB @95pts for a total of 425pts compared to the 430pts for Njal and Canis) and all three are pretty good.

The whole point of making this list was to use Canis and Njal together. I have other lists in which I don’t have Njal and use a Wolf priest instead. This alone frees a lot of points, enough to add another pack of Grey Hunters and correspondent Wolf Guard.

But my idea was to have a list with Canis and Njal that could still pose some challenges to the opponents. I know the list is light on both armor and troop choices, but what you’d suggest I change in the list to add another Grey Hunter Pack?

You really don't have the points for it unless you're willing to sacrifice some units. Either the wolf priest + blood claws or some wolf guards for more GH's.

Thanks to all for your valuable feedback. I've looked at the list, reworked it to incorporate the suggestions and I think the new one is much better. At least it adds the much needed third scoring unit, although it sacrifices on the units size.
