My bad, 1000 pt army

I've designed a 1500 pt list, but since i don't have all the models yet, i'm making this list with my other army in mind (so please, no major changes - though all advice is welcome)

HQ

Master of Sanctity
Termie honours, bolt pistol, frag g's, melta bombs, jump pack
142 pts

TROOPS

Tactical Sqaud I (5 marines)
4 bolters, 1 lascannon
90 pts

Tactical Sqaud II (6 marines)
4 bolters, 1 plasma cannon, 1 plasma gun
120 pts

Tactical Sqaud III (10 marines)
8 bolters, 1 meltagun, Vet. Sgt. with power fist & bolt pistol, drop pod
210 pts

FAST ATTACK

Assault Sqaud I (10 marines)
7 bolt pistol & CCW, 2 plasma pistol and CCW, Vet. Sgt. with power fist and bolt pistol
238 pts

HEAVY SUPPORT

Devastator Sqaud I (8 marines)
4 bolters, 4 missile launchers
200 pts

Other units i'm planning on having for my 1500 pt army are:
Dreadnought
2 x Land Speeder Tornado
Tactical Sqaud identicle to sqaud I above

So feel free to suggest any of these units for my 1000 pt army, along with which unit they will be replacing

I will be mostly facing tyranids, necrons and another SM army

Looks good to me, with the exception that you shouldn't boher with meltabombs. Tanks need to be shot, not assaulted.

These are good additions. For a dread, I'd suggest a Venerable one with tank hunters, extra armour and TLLC with ML.

What should i give (to any unit) from the points for losing the meltabombs?

The dread i have planned is tooled for close combat (venerable with furious assault, assault cannon, CCW, heavy flamer, extra armour, smoke launchers and drop pod)
Do you think i'll need the firepower or the extra punch in close combat more?
The shooty dread will earn its points more than CC one unless it has a drop pod. And trust me you'll agree when you watch your opponents ~200 point tank go up in flames from your dreads lascannon.. forget the CC one unless your blood angels, which you arent.

I agree with a ezek, its a good list.
As for what to spend the melta bomb points on. extra armour for the dread maybe? costs the same as melta bombs.

THough looking at this list with the tornado's and plasma cannons. i am scratching my head to figure out why you are making it ultramarines and not Darkangels. firstly DA look better IMO. and secondly those tornado's will get ravenwing bonuses. however theres no real prob with making them ultra's. its really up to what you prefer the look of ;)

good luck and happy hunting :)
Oh and..
If you are really determined to take that CC dread, then dont give it venerable. its 20 points wasted considering it cant be shot at when its locked in CC (which it almost always should be!)

Sorry i didnt see that you already had extra armour. Hmm..You cant do much with 5 points.. maybe drop one marine from somewhere and use the points for artificer armuor for the chaplain.. giving a 2+ save to keep a 3 wound character with 5 attacks alive for longer is ALOT more valuable than having a 1 wound marine with 1 attack for roughly the same points cost.
i would probably take the marine out of the dev squad. 2 bolters is enough meat to keep the heavy weapons alive for a while. they shouldnt be taking that much fire, and if something gets in CC with them then 1 extra bolter wont save them anyway.
So yeah, consider that ;p

yeah nice list i like it. two things i'd like to point out tho.
1.NEVER NEVER give a Dreadnought Furious Charge. What's the point of spending 10pts for giving +1 I to a model which moves 6"? There aren't any strength bonuses (already Str10) and a dred has got too few attacks to merit the +1 I.
So i agree with everyone else make it a shooty tank buster dred.
2.u got some points wrong. the Drop pod tac squad and the assault squad's pts are a bit low. but that's just a minor problem.
Nice list well done!
hmmmm... (checks codex) Your right!. the tac sqaud is 220pts and the assault is 260 (32 extra points)...now i have to lose some points somewhere. Any ideas?

Dark angels would probably end up better performance wise, but as i already have half the army painted...

You suggested i give Artificer armour to my chappy? I've got that in my 1500 pt army, but i don't have the spare points in this one.

about the dreadnought...i've seen them used in CC to great effect, especially with drop pods. if i do use it as cc, i'll drop the furious assault, and probably the venerable as well. then i have some spare points for something else. In my 1500pt army i've got 2 lascannon sqauds, and two units with powerfists, one also with meltabombs, so i think i have enough anti-tank ability... but then with the two previously mentioned attack units, 2 LST's and an anti-infantry tac sqaud (plasma cannon and gun)...

Anyway, that can wait, my main problem is finding an extra 32 points somewhere. I'll decide about the dread when i get to that stage.

[Edited] Aha! I did miscalculate the tac sqaud, but looking back at my army on paper i found that i had marked down my assault sqaud as 9 marines (my chaplain joining the sqaud brings it to 10) so even after that i'm still 10 points over. take away the melta-bomb mentioned in previous posts and i'm only 5 pts over. Any ideas?
