So I've been into the hobby for about a year now, and am branching away from my Imperial Guard into the Tau Empire. I just bought a bunch of models from a friend, and using those models wrote this list. I know the Ethereal is terrible, but I'm including him because I've got the model for him and the extra Fire Warriors.

You have nowhere near enough anti-tank weaponry for this points level (1550 is an odd points total as well). I count 1 railgun and 1 missile pod in about 1500pts.

At this level I don't go anywhere without 2 hammerheads and 5 crisis suits with missile pods.

A couple of points about you list. You can save a few points by dropping the Shas'o to a Shas'el and taking a targeting array and hard-wiring the multi-tracker. With Tau you should be avoiding close combat as much as possible and the boosted close combat ability of the Shas'o just makes him mediocre in assault.

Drop the ethereal and honour guard, the honour guard is illegal anyway as the minimum size is 6 not 4.

The hammerhead should have burst cannons not gun drones, keep it cheap and don't pay points to add an easy kill point to your army.

Not expert advise as I'm a newbie tau player as well.... but I find it super handy to have the SMS upgrade on my devil fish paired with a multi-tracker.... this set-up has come in handy many times over....provides support firepower for your pathfinders/fire warriors - look up warfish tactics on this or any other forum....

you have too many stealth suits... get rid of a squad.. take some XV8's also get rid of the honour guard... there is absolutely no point in keeping them.. take more of the honour guard fw instead. Also in a 1500 list.. it is not advisable to take markerlights. Even if you do take them your ratio of markerlights to units is way too high. you could be getting different units instead. Oh and take burst cannons on your hammerhead =) it counts as two guns and they can fire at different things if u give the hammerhead a target lock and it's also cheaper
