Hello all! I've just started playing 40k in the last two weeks, and would like some advice on what I'm currently fielding in 1000 point games against my friends. For reference, I'll normally be fighting against Deamonhunters and Space Marines.

What I fielded against the Deamonhunters yesterday is as follows:

This game didn't go very well for me, and probably because I don't yet have the termies I need to go against his. The Grandmaster tore me up with his squad of 5 other termies, and was wondering what I should field to take those buggers out (ie: What weapons to arm them with etc). Will my own termie squad be capable of handling them, and if not what will?!?! Argh!!!!!!

Also, to even field a full termie squad of 5 I'll have to cut down on several other squads to make the points for them... any opinions on what should be cut?

You could use a liuetenat instead of lord and give him a power weapon and some gifts, like daemonic strength, mutation, essence etc to make him better in close combat.

The Obliterator Cult is a good choice, but get 1 or 2 more for larger games.

The berzerkers are your termie slayers, take 7 + an asp champ instead of the 11 + an asp champ (youll get the champ upgrade for free). Give the berzerkers khornate chain axes (the termies will only get 4+ save) and a plasma pistol or 2. The champ should have a power weapon or a power fist, and dont give him any veteran skills, because he cant use it if the whole unit doesnt have it. Put them all in a rhino and let them do their work...

For your csm squads, have one concentraed on fire support and one for close combat, for the fire support squad take bolters, plasma gun and a lascannon/autocannon/missile launcher, because of these weapons arent that expensive in normal squads, dont upgrade the champ to a asp champ, because they hopefully dont need that extra attack, you could also use 2 small squads about 5-6 csm in each for fire support. For the close combat squad give them bolt pistol and ccw, maybe a plasma pitol or 2, get an asp champ with power weapon or power fist and maybe a gift, you could also give them a rhino or a veteran skill.

For the havocs you shouldnt have so many diffrent weapons, i use the auto cannon and las cannon in my ordinary csm squads and equip the havocs with heavy bolters and missile launchers and make the squad larger so you dont lose all your heavy weapons to early, about 6-9 scm will get you some extra wounds.

I like that list a lot better, it's more flexible and has a unit to deal with just about anything.
