Hello all! My local GW is starting to play regular games at 2500pts, so I'm having to up my normal army by 500pts. Here is what I am thinking of. It's built to take on anyone. What ya think?

LORD:
Arch Lec+A of MI+mace of helstrum+war altar=310

HEROES:
Capt(BSB)+fp+barb horse+sword of might=112
Wizard(lvl2)+2 scrolls=150
Wizard(lvl2)+rod of power=130

CORE:
25 swordsmen+fc=175 +[9 halberds+6 Archers=93]
18 flaggies=180
5 knights+m=123
5 knights+m=123
20 spearmen+m=104 +[9 halberds+5 crossbows=85]

SPECIAL:
Cannon
Cannon
5 pistoliers+m=97
19 greatswords+fc=220 +[9 halberds+5 crossbows=85]

RARE:
Helblaster
4 ironguts+m=202

nice army, i would do a few things differently though:
i would make the wizard with 2 despell scrolls lv 1
take the sword of might from the captain and replace it with hammer of judgement
that gives you 26 points which i would use for another greatsword and to give the spearmen full comand

Thats what i would do but as i say its a good army anyway

don't listen to him. You need the extra level to make your magic phase work. You could get crap spells with the guy with the rod and if you want your bound prayers to go off, you'll need the second level 2.

You could actually drop 1 greatsword and run them 6 wide.

Swordsmen are better than spearmen or halberdmen.

If you added a champion with repeater pistol to your Pistoliers you would get 2 more shots, and 4 that hit at a better balistic skill.

The captain seems to have no purpose. Think about getting him a pegasus and the doomfire ring to help your magic phase and to hunt fastcav, warmachines and to a lesser extent, wizards.

To expalin my army a bit more:

I am keeping both lvl 2 wizards as already stated to have an effective magic phase I need them both.

About the BSB, he serves a very important role; while the AL charges off on his Walter, he goes with the greatswords to help hold the line. I've found him to be really beneficial to my empire army.

I know what your saying about the pegasus captain, especially with the df ring, I just think loosing the BSB would be BAD!

On the pistoliers, i used to run with a outrider champ and repaeter pistol, but ultimately this unit is expendable and thus he isn't really required, in my opinion.

The spears are there purely as a back-up unit, hence no FC etc. Plus I have 20 of them at present and no more swordsmen! They would hang back near the artillery to help support it.

That's my thoughts anyhow. Haven't play tested this version yet, so it may well change.
