All right I am going to be starting a chaos dwarf army and would like you to review this before I go out and buy them. This list comes to just under 2k points and is meant for an instore campaign. I want to win this campaign so it is meant to hammer people. Suggestions welcome.

you could do this but I doubt you will ever play this list again. In fact, if you have to submit your list before hand, they probably won't let you play. No real tournament would allow you to play this list and even if you did, you wouldn't be allowed to win. That's why they have composition points. This list is considered Over The Top. Learn how to play the game and come back with a competative list.

i've got the ravening hordes book which came out years ago and i've never seen them since, in the new rulebook it has the chaos dwarfs as fluff after all of the other armies have been shown off, i think it'll be years before GW revamp the CD if not, not at all,

sorry bud,

Your tactics will be pretty simple.
+Use the Earthshaker to stop them from shooting at you, and if that doesnt matter, hit their fast attack units so they cant get to you quickly.
+Use the 4 bolt throwers to tear up dangerous units, or to snipe generals or other independent units.
+Use the bull centaur as a flank attack mechanism.
+Use the Wolf Riders as a supporting firebase for the Bull Centaur, and support if necessary in CC.
+Use the Death Rocket carefully. And try to kill some of the more treacherous units with it.
+Use the warriors as a phalanx. Advance them slowly up the board, and show the enemy why letting you fire, and then allowing you to stand and shoot as they charge into a block of 3 deep rank blunderbusses is the worst idea they have ever made.
+ALWAYS ALWAYS let them charge your blunderbusses, you want to shoot as many times as possible with them before they hit CC. Stand and shoot is your favorite rule. With that in mind, watch those flanks of the warriors... it'll ruin their day if you get charged from the side.
+Finally, use whichever spellbook you fancy. I -think- i use Death. It has the spell where you can make a unit fear causing, and I love that. It really helps with people wanting to charge your warriors. Plus the damage spells are pretty decent.

This list, however, is super illegal.

Too many special, too many heroes, and too many rare.
How?

At 2000pts you can have 4 special choices and 2 rare and 4 characters 1 being a lord and 3 heros.

This list is legal in my eyes.

You're right! I got confused with what units where what, and was thinking 40k org, chart in my head.

Anywho, I don't think that list would be that effective. Too much vested into magic, and even more vested into good distance guessing and better scatter rolls.

A fast army would eat that list to shreds.

Fast lists will be torn apart by magic and blunderbusses. I plan to have them 6 wide giving them strength 5 guns, each of the 4 groups to have a sorceror in it who will throw magic missiles. Having the two earthshakker cannons half their movement in front of the blunderbusses should give me at lest two if not three rounds of shooting into them. The four deathrockets will be used mainly to thin out blocks of warriors. Hobgoblin bolt throwers are pretty horrible. They really only have one purpose which is hitting monstrous creatures. I might swap out a rocket for 2 bolt throwers just to hit large targets with.

This is a legal list by the way. 1 lord, three heroes, four core, 4 special, two rares. I was trying to emulate a clan Skyre list. I am not going to be going close combat for a while as this will be my second army, Lizardmen being my primary one. I can build a nice combat army with them. I just cannot use warmachines, which are what I want to try out. Hence Chaos Dwarf's. Magic and shooting are my favorite parts of warhammer. I just really hate skaven or I would do them.

Thanks,

Dustin

That's def. fair!

So take the cavalry out of my list and add your wizards. This would also allow that second spot for another earthshaker.

And on the bolt thrower note: I trust death rocket's even less than the bolts, hence why i went with 4 bolt throwers, instead of two death rockets.

I think balancing that like you want to is your prerogative.

Just keep in mind you dont have a whole lot of range, which is why i had the cavalry, to act as a surgical team in the turn it takes for the enemy to get close.

I think it's so so soooo important to balance a list, and your original list just doesn't seem to have that balance. Any good dispeller can halt half your points. Or a group of flyers can take out your warmachines no problem at all.

Just... be wary. Sure you're gonna dominate some armies, but your advantages are also your disadvantages.
