Hey LO.

The list following is purely fluff related to my eldar fictional sect but I thought I'd post it here and see whether people thought it was pure garbage or not.

HQ

Autarch w/Swooping Wings, Reaper Launcher and Power Weapon. 125

Farseer w/Runes of warding, runes of witnessing, fortune, guide, spirit stones, singing spear. 153

Troops

Wraith guard X 10 w/Spiritseer w/Singing Spears 384

Wraith guard X 10 w/Spiritseer w/Singing Spears 384

Wraith guard X 10 w/Spiritseer w/Singing Spears 384

Fast Attack

Swooping Hawks X 7 147

Heavy Support

Wraithlord w/2 X Flamers, Sword, Brightlance 140

Wraithlord w/2 X Flamers, Sword, Brightlance 140

Wraithlord w/2 X Flamers, Sword, Brightlance 140

Total: 1997

As I said, fluff mainly. The Autarch would stand on a hill looking suave while the guard and lords would just advance as an undefeatable wall... in theory.

It would look nice and if you could get enough wraithguns pointed at the scary parts of the enemy army you might do something useful. But you have very little to help break the wraithguard units free of melee. All it will take is a powerful melee unit to reach combat and the list will crumble.

Not very purist if you have the Swooping Hawks in there ;)
Yeah... well..... quiet you.

They're really just there so that the Autarch doesn't stand around like a lemon.

As far as tactics are concerned I've re-tooled it so that the Wraithlords have Scatter Lasers and the Warlocks have destructor. Try to pick off anything that gets too close.

Fluff wise the avatar goes well with an iyaden list actually. It took a dozen carnifexs to take him down according to the new nids fluff. In my wraith list, the only unfluffy part is Eldard, but thats so i can fortune the avatar and the squad, otherwise id use another farseer or yriel.

as for the list, Yriel would make it fluffier and so would an avatar if your going off of iyaden, but if not///// yueah just read the top part of your post.

Take the spears off of the warlocks, you lose a precious cc attack for more AT which you dont need at 12''. and unless you know you go up agianst ig regularly, i would drop the bright lances down to ML (better anit-infantry) and lose the hawks for shining spears. those would be my suggestions if you wanted to keep your fluff it seems.

What you say avout the fluff is true, but my fluff is based of an (un)original concept. In this its unlikely that either named characters or the Avatar would show up, unless they stole the statue from somewhere...

Heh. That could be an interesting mission to play...

As for the new list as it has worked so far,

Wraithlords now have scatter lasers instead of lances. Warlocks now have destructor instead of spears. Autarch now has a warp jump generator instead of wings and is now accompanied by Warp Spiders.

Wraiths will amass at one end and work their way forward. Spiders will attempt to assassinate any CC specialists.

Have you thought about using Wave Serpents? The points you spend on them give you a)Wraith units capable of taking the initiative and chasing stuff down b)A few more long range guns (EMLs good here) c)You don't have to paint quite so many wraithlord models. I know they look cool but 20 uni-pose models later you will probably want to shoot yourself in the eyes with an air-brush.

I dont see him using a waveserpent powerclaw. for one, he has no where to put it, and two, i dont believe it would go well with his fluff, which this army is based off of.
the only way he could is if he were to drop a guard unit, and maybe the hawks, and add in somthing like howling banshees in a serpent.

I love wraith lists, they are a very hard army to play but well worht your opponents look when you lay it down and they cant wound you. If you want to look at my 2k wriath list, its mainly a fluffy iyaden list with eldrad only becuase he can fortune the avatar and the squad of guard at the same time. http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/eldar-army-lists/164691-2k-fun-tournement.html#post1428672 it is still undefeated at my local game store, but people are getting better at playing agianst it so its come down to the wire a few times. I hope that it will give you a few ideas on where to go with your list.

Every craftworld can summon an Avatar from it's core iirc, and I can think of 3 named characters that would fight with Iyanden. If I'm not mistaken, it was Eldrad who warned them of the Tyranids, Prince Yriel who saved them, and the shrine of Asuryan is on Iyanden, so I would imagine Asurmen would help out, though it seems this is more of a Wraith list then an Iyanden list.

It has occured to me I haven't actually stated what the fluff is. As I said it's unoriginal so please don't judge...

The army itself comes from Eldanesh, and the imagery / sybols reflect that. They hold no love for either sect of Eldar, judging the race as a whole to have failed in its duty to protect the galaxy. In this, they have come to revere the hunter's moon of Eldanesh itself as harbinger of the future for the Eldar, a state permanently residing between the Warp and Realspace... The souls of those struck down during the fall were some of the few NOT actually consumed by Slanesh during her birth. Instead, the hunters go out to "catch" spirits using wraithbone nets, and place them within Wraithkind. Hence, the high population of Wraiths in their army.

Their overall goal is to one day birth the new Eldar Death God, hinted at in certain sources, which will come about when the last Eldar returns to the infinity circuit.

That's the basics of what I'm going for.

Shrine of Asuryan is not the Shrine of Asur which is found on every craftworld as the "temple" of Dire Avenger Aspect warriors. (4`th edition codex)
Do not forget the named from older codexes..she is not erased from fluff, just not usable anymore: Iyanna Arienal, the spiritseer of Iyanden(3`rd edition codex)

Now question: 13`th black crusade(when Eldrad died) was before or after the tyranid war on Iyanden? It is in fluff that he warned them before the hive fleet even touched our galaxy so should be a lot of years

What about Harlequins? If you're going for fluff perhaps you could settle for Harlequins. They appear in the most dire need, so perhaps they could fit the bill. Without a counter assault unit, you have no chance with this list. I run a mixed-mech wraithwall list with striking scorpions for counter assault, but Harlequins would be great, especially to help out with Wraithsight. I also would just suggest using Maugan Ra, with a counts as theme with this. I run Maugan Ra in my 2 serpent, 1 wraithguard squad, and scorpions list. He is a beast in close combat which you desperately need, and he gives you some long range ability too. In my opinion, he is a great fit for an Iyanden army, as long as you fiddle through the fluff. In my army I count my Maugan Ra as a super Death Jester that has allied with some Biel Tan elements, so I have aspects and Wraithguard and Wraithlords. Do what makes you happy, but without a counter assault element, you are toast in a slightly competitive game.
