I vote Imperial Guard

Escalation would make it hard for the plague marines to overwhelm the IG, who have pleanty of weaponry to take out marines (though the autocannons wouldn't be ideal, the missile launchers and plasma guns would, and the leman russes are wonderful.

My vote goes to Imperial Guard

The sheer amount of plasma and 3+ save cracking stuff and pie plates is enough to blow any amount of Death Guard away, as there is not much difference between Toughness 5 and 4 for this IG player....

Its a tough call but I think escalation is what does it, the death guard will never have enough models on the board to create an effective resistance.

I've changed my mind and vote Death Guard

This is probably the most difficult decision I've made in this round of votewar. However the Deathguard does have a great list, lots of troops and infiltrate. All the Plasma will give the DG hell on the way in, but remember these guys are T5 True Grit marines - you only have to get 2/3 of them in close combat with a Guard squad and it's game over. The IG deployment is going to be tighter packed whether he wants it to be or not, which will limit his shooting time between squads.

Also the GD player does have anti-tank, every one of this troop choices is packing 2 meltaguns. It's tough, but I believe that the DG player WILL be able to close the gap in those 2/3 turns...and then it's goodnight Vienna.

Imperial Guard

Lots of Plasma, nasty battle tanks, auto cannon which ignore the T5 advantage. Melta guns arent very good against Russ'. You have to get within 6" and with the Tanks mobile thats hard to achieve. 2 BS4 shots doing dammage on a 6+ isn't that great a threat.

The Basalisk and DSing Stormies ought to neutralise the Defilers and vice versa.

Escalation hurts the IG, they dont have thier tanks but can bring them on where they want to.

I vote Death Guard.

-Imperial Guard has a lot of fire power, but it is inaccurate firepower.

-The 2 defilers against all packed IG troops will wreack havok in the IG lines.

-Once the terminators get to the IG lines (and they will) the battle is all but over.

Ah good, it's nice to see I'm not alone on this one. I read all the previous comments, and I feel quite often they simply aren't doing that Death Guard list justice.

I think that the sheer number of gaurdsmen is quite impressive and it is going to be hard to survive all those shots even if they are inaccurate. 3 ordenence templates is what wins it for the gaurd though. they have 10 plasmaguns although they probably would only do about 4 wounds. However on the other hand the death gaurd are very tough and have 2 ordinence templates of their own. This is a really tough one but I'm going to go with

The sheer amount of infiltration will just kill the IG. They will get into combat in three turns and then just tear them apart.

You do realize that this is escalation don't you?
There's not a sheer amount of infiltration, only 4 units, vs those 2 full platoons. The rest comes later
