500 pt. iron worriors

797 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Mordinkain
Hey all last wed. i had a fight against dark eldar and impirial guard (my first games ever). i came out on top against both players but i had a little more trouble against DE (mainly cuz of his damn dark lances and cuz he knocked out my basilisk the first turn. lol thats wut i get for leaving the rear armour open) any ways this is the list i used if theres any suggestions or comments on how to improve the list id like to hear them

HQ
1 chaos lord
mocu
b pistol
pwr wepon
d. strength
d. resilence

Elites
1 oblitorator

troops
6 csm
mocu
5 with bolters
1 with lascannon

8 csm (chaos lord joined this unit)
mocu
7 with chainswords and b pistols
1 with flamer

Heavy
1 basilisk

my idea behind this list wuz to get the basilisk to stay still and fire the earthshaker cannon (witch worked relly well against the impearial guard) the oblitorator to shoot down any tanks (witch worked well against both DE and IG) my idea for the shooty squad wuz to try to just take down as much infantry as posible. i wuznt sure about how many cc troops to take i wuznt sure if they would make it into cc with out losing to may guys to be efective in combat. but in the end it worked out good for them they made it into cc with only 2 casualtys taken

like i said b4 any sugestions would b apreaciated. peaCe out

Its a bad move to have a lord at 500 points drop him down to a leiutenant.

I fell that you would be better served by losing the basilisk and taking more obliterators, they are so versatile IW just cannot go without them.

D strenght and resilience aren't really needed, I would give him the one that gives the 5+ invulnerable save (I think its D essence).

If that leaves you with enough points increase the shooty squads numbers.

Hope this helps.
What about downgrading your Lord to Lt. and taking off Resilience and buying indirect fire for the Bassie?
If your HQ joins a squad, he doesn't need any defence upgrades. And I think that with no Lordship, Resilience and with IF, you could even buy Melta instead of a Flamer if you will face more marinesque armies. But against low-armoured armies like those you battled Flamer is nice.
hey all thx for the advice. i started a new list ill post it on this thread soon (probly tomorow). i just have one newb question. i wuz on the gw website looking at the csm model catalog and i couldent find a chaos lutenient is the lt. and the lord the same model? or is a chaos socerer model a lt. until u upgrade him to a sorcerer? if anyone can help me out id apreaciate it. any ways i'll post the new list when i get it done. thx for all the advice.

You can use anything for your Lord/Lt. Just as long as he look like a Chaos leader would and you have your gifts/wargear/weapons properly represented.

Example: for your Lord you could use a basic Iron Warrior model, give him a cool looking sword, paint him up a bit different, maybe add some spikes and voila. You very own HQ model.

well thats it. thx for all the imput. any more sugestion will be apreaciated. and about the suggestion for giving the basilisk indirect fire. its a good idea except the board we play on is only 48'' and indirect has a min range of 36 so i dont c the point.

I would say list 2 only because you have a basilisk in it. That makes it rather nasty and is certainly worth trying.
Although list 1 seems more balanced to me for some reason. If you can afford it I say try both.
ya ill try both. and c what one works better for me. and thanks again for all the sugesstions.

Maybe give your Lord Daemon Aura for a inv. save.
I must admit in 500pts list 1 is nice. If I would take a basilisk I would Take the Indirect fire option. In which case it would be expensive for 500 pts.
