I can't see giving him the cloak as he seems safer being with the bowman unit, Look out sir!. Ideally, setup the two units within 12 inches of each other so that I can try to raise in either group.

Played this versus Dark Elves, the Liche priest survived until the end. Unfortunately, the skels got hit by that small blast spell and cut in half. The other issue was every unit, IIRC, had those fire twice/turn bows. Bad news.

What would you add to this to get to 1000? I would think adding a SSC would be a good first step.

Give the guy the very standard Cloak o' Dunes, as flying is a must for dodging arrows, Knights, or anything else that would hurt you.

Good choice on the Sword/Shield, but 12 is not a fighting unit, they can hardly break anything with fear, so either drop a whole archer unit, or a few models from each to give you that nice boost. A standard here would not be a bad idea either.

That's about it, real close to the one i use, and with those changes you should do fine.
