OK, starting Empire here. Just ordered my first models and they're on their way. It'll be my first 'real' army with actual models. I want it to be versatile (hence coloured) with lots of different units and the ability to work in each phase. Here you'll see what I've come up with:
Captain
-Full plate armor, Shield, Sword of Might, Van Horstman's Speculum
Wizard
-Lvl. 2, Wizard's Staff
19 Swordsmen
-Full command
-9 Free Company
-5 Crossbowmen
10 Handgunners
-5 Crossbowmen
5 Inner Circle Knights
-Full command
5 Pistoliers
Great Cannon
Mortar
It's about 1000 points, a little under if I recall correctly. I think it has a lot of variety in it, and I'm sure I'll have many great battles to come. Also, different units offer different conversion and painting possibilities and many tactical dimensions.
There's a solid block of troops, hard-hitting knights, good amount of shooting and a fast unit to harass the enemy with. Don't know how I'll manage against that one bloke and his dwarves, but I'll figure out. There's a lot of people in our local gaming group so I have to think of other armies, too.
So, am I missing something or otherwise shooting myself in the leg? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
