For lethal shot and ONE higher ballistic skill, they cost double that of a GG. My question: Isn't it always more effective to spend the extra points on GG?

Short Answer: Yes

Long Answer: They are worth more than glade guard because they skirmish, have better BS, lethal shot, oh and they can be set up in your opponents deployment zone as long as they are out of sight in or behind terrain. March blocking your enemy on turn one makes these guys great if used well.

They also have a 2nd hand weapon and are great for taking down war machines :)

10 attacks against most war machine crews is very useful and also good for just annoying your oppenent (if used rightly) also sometimes can target mages that sometimes are protected by being behind units or if not at least forces player to put mage in unit. Lastly they can be used to capture table quaters. In my last 5 games they have captured 3 table quaters more then makes up for high price. plus really nice models.8Y

I play Chaos and my friend uses Wood Elves, and his small unit of Waywatchers are the ones that scare me the most out of his entire army. There fast and that damn killing blow thiing they have can wipe out most of my bests units befor they even get close to a fight. So yes they are wel worth the cost.

All of the above are true. In my last game, my waywatchers killed 4 dragon princes, destroyed a bolt thrower and crue. and destroyed 6 sea guard. Then they hid in a building and captured a table quarter for me.

Definately worth the points in my opinion.

I was using 5 Waywatchers in that game.

they probably aren't worth it in glade guard numbers, but a small group of 5-6 is worth more to me (in usefulness) than a great eagle. I tied up 4-5 units with a 6 man unit one game.

I was able to deploy them behind enemy lines in one match vs. Ogres and kept them from marching for the entire game.

The Killing Blow didn't come into play...but the march block was key to my victory.

Oh yes they are worth it.

Their abillity to set up like no other is so valuable.
They can marchblock on turn one because of it (as sirkently pointed out)

Not to mention that if you get the first turn and they are positioned well you can unleash KB arrows on some very juicy targets.

I managed to KB a mounted wizard once on turn one. Watching my opponents face was a beautifull moment for me.

In short they are worth it. Most definently

Main thing is because they deploy after your oppenants character's you can get the upper hand.

He had one guy who left his Black Orc Warboss out in the open next to his giant. Killing Blowed his General first turn, was awesome.

These guys are essentially one of the best things for sniping characters.

definitely the main advantages to haveing Waywachters over Glade Guard are that they skirmish and like you said lethal shot. The Balistics skill isn't that big of a deal but Lethal shot can really cause trouble for your enemys

They are also nice for the extra neg to hit them with ranged attacks. One time against dwarfs i had them set up in hard cover just at long range to his thunderers. He spent 2 turns shooting at them and then spent 2 turns getting his organ gun into range just to take them out. All because one of them managed to put a wound on his hammerers :p
