hello all...... i am starting a new army.... because of the new assault rules comin out and being official...... no sweeping advance, rhino rush, etc....... wit the new rules i thing my flesh tearers are gonna suck....... so i want to kno what army to start.. my gang of frends are starting all shooty armies, imps, tau, etc... i need close combat and fast as hell.... no nyds tho... i was thinkin deathwing tho not fast... very durable..... pleeze i need opinions.......

u want fast assulty that can still get out and assult? go for dark eldar. they are WHICKED fast and in thenew vehicle rules cans tillg et out of the transport and assult, because thier vehicles are open topped. also they dont specialize in sweeping advance. they assult you, but enuf to keep u alive for a turn so then they can stay in combat.

they are also very shooty. not as so as tau, but when u ahve 5 raiders and they all have dark lances on them, and 2 ravagers with 3 lances/disintegraters. it can hurt aLOT.

No, if you're going for fast assault, you can't beat Harlequins. They ARE fast assault- WS 8 Init. 8 Solitaires that can assault 12" will always help out, especially with fleet of foot, flip belts, Harlequin's Kisses and halving your opponents WS in CC.

they arent legal, but in the trial rules it says, that they highly recomend the the tournie leaders allow the use of them so they can furthur test the rules.

From what I've heard, they're adding "Assault Vehicles" to the rules, ones you can charge straight out of. Things like the Land Raider and Crusader (Frag Assault Launchers become usable!) and possibly the Rhino, as well as all open-topped transports.

Dark Eldar makes for a huge/fun change from Chaos SMs.

They're very fast - vehicles that can move 12" and still shoot/embark/disembark, with a max. move of 24"! The vehicles are open topped, so all passengers can shoot, and with the TVRs, you can still move, disembark and assault.

DE are great in HtH. Your Lord (Archon/Dracon) and his entire retinue (Incubi) can have power weapons. This squad mows through SMs.

Wyches have 4+ invulnerable save in HtH, and with wych weapons, they take away the 2nd CCW from any opponent. This squad is great for tying up your opponent's CC squads.

Give both of these squads plasma grenades, and with their high initiative, they'll almost always go first in HtH (even attacking into cover).

Talos - D6 S7 power weapon attacks!

Dark Eldar are also shooty - BS 4, Dark Lance/Blaster is S8, with the special property to convert any armour over 12 to 12 (other than Monolith). 2/3 chance of hitting a Landraider, 50% chance then of glancing/penetrating! Disintegrator is S7 small blast template weapon. Put 3 on a Ravager and watch Terminator squads drop dead!
