As the title says i am want to use my baneblade at 1500 pts...

I know the rules say this is illegal (im using the forgeworld rules i don't know if the apoc rules for baneblade are different) But my opponets said it would be okay if we had some way to counteract the rule break.

So here are a few of my ideas
-Opponets must know i will be using a baneblade BEFORE we choose army list/mission
-Opponet has choice of mission and/or first turn or second turn.
-Opponet gains extra victory points for killing the baneblade

What does everyone think about this? any other ideas on how to even out the sides?

Well the first rule you got there is a given, and its just good sportsmanship.

but otherwise I think your handicapping your self enough putting nearly half your army's total point in a Baneblade.

If you were using Apoc rules I'd say your opponent should get some extra points, but the FW rules are fairly well balanced in contrast to the Apoc Rules.

The Imperial Armour Baneblade isn't allowed in games smaller than 2000p.

The apocalypse baneblade has no such restriction, but since it's not a part of Codex: Imperial Guard I'd say it would require your opponents consent to field in non-apocalypse games.

What's the set up? Is it a part of an armoured company or just standard guard? Personally I would be miffed to see that monster trundling into a 1,500pts game, I would also aim everything I had at it as I would imagine the rest of your army would be easy enough to finish off once that was out.

Over kill springs to mind but could be interesting....

Absolutley agree with mike, I would love my opponent to drop a bane blade in at 1500 points, you may as well just run up the white flag now, you certainly dont need to give him any advantages, provided he has the opportunity to throw about 6 las cannons for what? about 120 points max? in to his army, you will be dead in very short order

The first idea is good
For the second, maybe you could make it a -1 modifier for your first turn roll, or give your opponent the option to have both dice rerolled.
I wouldn't give them the mission choice or additional victory points though.

Maybe you could have it take up 2-3 heavy support slots. Despite the fact it would take up most of your points, a Baneblade supported by Basilisks or flanked by 2 Russes in a 1500pt game sounds a bit nasty.

The baneblade is by no means indestructable. So I would say just the knowledge that it going to be in a game is fair enough advantage. You'll spend at least 500 points on the Baneblade so over 30%.

Thats really not bad for what you get and all the gun on that beast! But to me its not that bad when I can field a HQ Command Tank in an Armored Company for 400+ easy!

But If I were you I would put some other tanks in your force and let them sit back a pick of the important units while your friend trys to take out the baneblade. Have fun and good luck

and you can, Imperial armour volume 1 allows you to with 1 simple restiction
you MUST ask your opponent for permission
Again, no you can't. It is specifically stated that in Imperial Armour: Volume 1 that a Baneblade cannot be fielded in an army of less than 2000 points.

Ok guys thank you

Kaiser- I know I cannot do this legally... but these will be friendly games, not tournaments so if my opponet is okay with it then i dont think it matters

I like the idea of using a -1 Modifier on the deployment/first turn dice so that along with permission to use the baneblade in the first place

This will be in a 1500 point army using the imperial guard codex. Over all i plan to use all infantry except for the baneblade. Since my opponet will most likely just specialise his/her entire army to combat the baneblade the rest of the infantry will be able to overwhelm him.

Thanks for all the help everyone... now to make a 1500 baneblade list

ahem, obviously you missed a large section, I'll skip to the main part

"This limits the use of Super-heavy tanks to 2000pts, as is appropriate for such rare and potentially devastating machines. Of course, players that wish to may IGNORE THIS RESTRICTION AND USE SUPER-HEAVY TANKS IN SMALLER GAMES, BUT only if they get there opponents cnsent first."

thats the actual quote from Imperial armour 1 page 274 Using Super Heavy Tanks

you can beg for mercy now;Y

Yeah I have to agree. Either way its a friendly game so even if the Offical rules dont state something, as long as both players agree to a change of rules, it A-OK!

Remeber its about having fun ya know!? Ha but dont expect to do this against a stickler for the rules. Or the type who always bend the rules in there favor alone

The main rulebook also encourages houserules and igoring official rules if they feel that would make for a more fun game, hell, that part shouldn't even need to go in the rulebook, as if you choose to ignore a section of the rulebook, following the rules is void.

Still, it does say that superheavies shouldn't be used in battles of less than 2000p, regardless if you choose to ignore it or not.
