Basalisk firing range

I am confused about the firing range of a basilisk. My reading of the rules is that if indirect firing is used the range is 36"-120". However, in line of sight mode the range must be 1"-120".

Please confirm.

Thanks,

No Sephe. You have the range right for direct but not indirect.

In direct fire mode (must have line of sight) it has a maximum range of 120" and no minimum range.
In indirect fire mode it does not need line of sight and it's range is extended to a whopping 240", however it has a minumum range of 36".

Direct 120"
Indirect 36" - 240"
24 feet seems like a bit of overkill, unless you're planning on bombarding other tables with your artillery.
Yep. Works great when you've got a few tables lined up for a mega battle.

I LOVE playing mega battles with guard.

Look mr. space marine player, the longer you keep my basalisks alive the more pie plates of doom I drop on the opponent. Now get up there and keep the enemy busy."

What?

I resent that suggestion. We are not 'picknicking in the woods while your men die.'

We're guarding the rear against surprise attack!

Oooh. Khorne berserkers, eh? Nasty. Well good luck with them!

I have to finish building and painting my guard army first.

LMAO.....Hahahahahahaha
Hah, that reminds me of the last tournament I played. I was paired with a guy who was kinda new to the game and had never played against IG. I was explaining my units to him and he asked what the range on the basilisk was.

Me: See that devastator squad there?
Him: What, my squad in the corner here?
Me: No, that one two tables down that's playing against that Chaos player. They're in range.
Him: Oh. Geez.

Oh gosh. That was funny. :)

But, seriously, I have used my Basilisk in a mega battle and they are very very scary. In fact, I would have to say that besides a Super Heavy vehicle, they are the second scariest thing in a mega battle.
well i want basilks but mine are sadly on back order so god knows when there comeing. but i wanted a lot of inderect fire becuse the store i go to wants to have a huge 3000 point game with all the warhammer players this summer. i think they want it to be imperium agenst non but i may be on the non imperium side becuse my colors are dark and could be trator leigons.
I got to use my basilisks in a 10,000 point Tyranid vs. Imperium mega battle this past summer. From one table corner to the opposite one, it was still only 13 feet. Every turn I dropped a shell on the farthest opponent away, not because it was tactically sound (believe me, I had my own fish to fry), but because it was worth it to piss that one guy off that couldnt do a thing about it all game.

In the end, Imperium Won 7VPs to 6VPs because I took out the tyranid Heirophant Bio-Titan on the last turn with my Lascannons. I love the smell of fried ichor in the morning.
