you should mass him.

put up more marines then him, easy since his standard marine costs 28 pt. or so.

only thing is, his standard marine hits in closecombat with strength 6.

and put up a few instant killers against the terminators.

termies have powerweapon and hit with strength 6

Firstly, if u get any chances to shoot him, do so (unless it severely hampers your assault capability)

against his teminators, use assault marines with 2 power fists and storm shields (roughly 6 in the squad of 10), also if u want, take a chaplain with a jumpack to support them. THe storm shields will dramastically lessen your casualties, u should be charging because they are faster, and the power firsts can seriously damage him (if he loses a terminator, think about just how many points he just lost)

his ground troops u can deal with through numbers (i rarely get to say that about BT), use the EC to deal with justicars- he will probably lose against any other grey knight character, and so just challenge them and u should be ok

if he takes an inquisitor with retinue etc, just shooting it should seem them off (LRC would be good at this, large amounts of weak troops are what hurricanes were designed for)

His commander will usually be surrounded by terminators so if u can deal with him, a command squad with a tooled up marshal and characters with power weapons should probably overwhelm him (assuming he is a grand master)

you can challegenge any character.

a model is a character when it can take stuff out of the armoury.

so you can challenge hq's and vet. sergeants

dont worry about the guard, they are solely in his army to distract you, so dont get distracted by it :lol:

yer, what marshal said, most of the GK's firing range will be 24" or under, with the odd 36"~ so try to out shoot him heh, if you do get into combat with pure GK's, try to outnumber them at least one marine one neophyte, at least..

anyway good luck with it, i dunno about the templars, but take a vindicator if you can, his strength 6 psycannons cant pop the vindicator's 13 front armour, and he will be trying to CC you anyway, and walking towards you, right into the range of your vindicator. just make sure to take out any of the heavy weapons in the guard armies, maybe take an assassin to pick them off / pin down the squad :)

ok how about this then:

a vindicator

a vindicare assasin

2 dreaghtnoughts with plasma cannon and ccw with stormbolter (or heavy flamer?)

and a squad of 5 marines with plasma cannon and plasma gun.

ya know, that vindicator won't be doing much after turn 2, if you move towards him.

and grey knights can't be pinned.
their special rule.

I would suggest, only plasma cannons.

the more ap2/3 weapons the better.

hold down a assault squad, until they get close enough.

remember about the shrouding, don't count to much on shooting.

dont bother shooting with templars!!! i cannot stress this enough

I also think it necessary to point out the usefulness of assault marines, if you can split up his squads, these guys will seriously maul them- powerfists/weapons to quickly take care of his guys and strom sheilds to withstand the return attacks (especially from the justicars and terminators)

one more thing- if your opponent is smart he will probably do something unexpected- perhaps some orbital strikes or maybe a land raider, make sure ur army can deal with any contingencies

how do you know what hes going to field? regardless of how smart he is, you should be prepared for anything

for example:

really smart guy: i'll perhaps take an orbital strike, he would think id do this anyway, and have his forces split up around the board to avoid the template, making it harder for him to attack as a horde and just hit my GK's piecemeal

average guy: i'll take an orbital strike as it has a large template, can pin, has a wide area of effect and possibly shake up his troops a little. sounds good, ill get one

dumb guy: hell yer look at S10 AP1 man that will blow up bloody anything, ill get one..

my point is, regardless of how smart they are, they can still field anything, for different reasons. Be prepared.

hey6 marshal dont the assult squads with shileds cost a lot in my army i have all rang its really sad cazz i play bt but you are right in hth bt ***** the enemy up ccw and pistal and then +1 to assult that is 3 attack and then the hit on 3 vow or the +1 to wound lol great but that is not what im really sapos to be talking about so ill start

#1 how many points are you playing 1500 if so you can run 4 units of 10 with lazz canoons that seens to work for me but i have only been playing necs and tau lol but still

#2 what chapter are you playing i missed it or did not read it what ever

#3 yes be ready for any thing and if your using ters yes no i dont care LRC good for there transport with a cap of 8 and all the toys on it Assult cannon 2 hurs bolter things multi melt and pint if you want o and if they goes with cover i dont know how the guy plays you get frags with the LRC lol just

JUST FOOD for thought

o and deathwatch marins lol i like them i dont know about you but they do get a bolter and ccw and there hevy bolters kick ass with 3 types of fire but go with what your good and at using and know how to use :p

assault marines are rather pricey with power fists, storm shields etc (my tooled up assault squads traditionally cost around 295 pts for the lot, but they rarely dont justify their points)

good to hear about the battle Lucian, what did u take out of interest?
