So I was playing and ran mephiston the other night and forgot this clown had no inv save. Is that a joke? Please someone tell me there's a faq for this. Tell me that a 225 pt space marine hq unit has no inv save. That 3 shots from a power weapon and this guy drops?

You are the correct. He is the exatch same as Tigirius in the regular book....dies to weapons with no saves. However, he is toughness 5 so you can't really Instant Death him with a power fist so thats no biggy and he should be striking most things that are dangerous to him at IN 6 so you should, and i mean should, come out unscathed. However, just last week i saw Mephiston fight the Emperor's Champion, causing 5 wounds to the EC, and the EC made all 5 saves then proceeded to slap him back. He truely is the Champ!

Your tellin me ha I assaulted an avatar with meph and 5 lighting claw termies and mephiston died on 3 wounds directed at him from the avatar. So such crap. So there's no faq then?

Yeah, the BA codex is pretty gimp, a lot to hate and not nearly enough to like make up for it.

No he doesn't Infact i can't think of any Librarian that does have an invunerable save. He's toughness 5 and has FNP abd a 2+ Save so should be fine against normal attacks. Against Characters he's got loads of attacks Str5 and a Force Weapon. I don't think he needs an Invunerable save on top of that.

Njal has a 4+ inv. save when in T-armor. Course thats SW right, other SM chapters don't get the love they do.

Also really I think the OP is worried about Mephistons combat viability without an Inv save, and against anything he's likely to be in CC with his 2+ armor save and FNP is not gonna be of any use. His T5 does go a long way though.

LOL, I've not even read the SW Codex yet. I'm trying not to incase i want to do an army of them. Either way i'm sure they die to Lasguns as easily as everything else

Just don't run him up to Characters/Monsters he can't kill with his Force weapon and you should be fine. Everything else he should either kill with Billions of Attacks or with the FW if needed.

Sabe is correct its not so much taking fire as it is piss poor combat durability. Yea he can't be out right killd from on powerfist shot but he can if he takes 5 and only 2 miss. With no chance to save I'm limited to assaulting guard tau and eldar lol. I know what you guys are saying about his touhgness 5 and all but he's a 225 pt hq. Gw did a good job limiting the blood angels to a dante corbulo only arrmy to be any good in the 5th. I really am trying to generate a list away from that one but I find it near impossible.

Back to topic, when you think about it, librarians are just "normal" marines with physik trait. Ok some of them are like super awsome (like mempheston) but they are still just marines. nothing more. Im just thinking fluff wise here.:sinister:
