My girlfriend plays WH and i've been surfing through the forums and it seems that everyone takes as many books of st lucius as they can. I dont see the use in Sisters having a book if they all have a sister superior and have ld 9. everyone has the same ld if they have a Sister superior and i see this only being useful on a Canoness. am i missing something?

It effectively makes every unit in your army stubborn for 5 points a unit. The key word in the item description is "Unmodified" leadership.

well whats out there that we have to worry about it bringing down our leadership. There is the tyranid psychic scream, but that's all i can think of atm

and as i sit on the porcelan throne i realize why it is so important. When the girls lose combat, they take no minus modifiers to their Ld and so will stay and fight rather than run away and either keep running or get killed by the advance, a likely problem at I3

and remember that your girls have "shield of faith" which gives them in effect a 5+ cover save against ALL psychic powers...

read up on it.

it lets you choose to use it or not. if you get locked into CC, you can choose stubborn to tarpit, and use spirit of the martyr for 3/3+ saves, or you can choose to NOT be stubborn on your opponent's turn after he has killed 5 Sisters. If you run and get swept on your opponents turn rather that your turn, you can shoot the opponent down.
which is terribly useful.

but at the same time, tying up your opponent's uber HQ charcater in CC for 2 full turns? it's got it's uses.


the Book is also good for sisters with inducted IG. the IG need a morale boost. and making it UNMODIFIABLE is nice.

Psyker battle squads loose some of their tactic, Necron Pariahs do too, so does the culexus. it's 5pts. it's cheap, and useful.

They are cheap for what you are getting. PLus it adds a little flavor to the army to see all the superiors walking around holding these little holy books.

Worth noting that you don't need them everywhere - on small celestian squads in particular they can ramp up the price a bit (as celestians don't need a VSS)
