BT vs Nids

How to make breakfest of those Tyranids if I play Black Templars? Righteous Zeal isn't that good when meeting a tyranid player. Just shoot so much you can before getting in CC?

go for jump infantery since they aren't subjected to the zeal rule. you might also consider using assault weapons so you can move around freely without losing that much needed heavy weapon.

first kill the little nasty ones in shooting (including the broodlord because he can be a pain in the ass in CC)
then move on to the hive and leave the carnifex because he is way to slow.

Give all your units a PF so even the carnifex isn't save anymore in CC.
Lack of whirlwinds and dev squads hurts BT against 'Nids. I go with Tornados to help mow down some bugs. Predator Destructors are your friend as well. Take HB sponsons and you're getting 8 shots with better than bolter range that they generally won't be saving against. Load up with missiles in your tac squads. They are nice to have against the big bugs and using frag missiles against troops is a bonus. LRCs are a must if you can afford them. Hit a soft flank away from the big boss and hack away.
Ah I see. Thanks for help.
Since Black Templar specialise in LRC they can lead a pretty devestating attack because the six twinlinked bolters are all doubletapping at that point. 12 bolter shots is nothing to laugh at if you play tyranids.

other than that flamers, assault cannons and (if points allow...if not rocket launchers are fine) plasma cannons are best.( a lot of carnifex players take the armor save upgrade as it negates starcannons and rocket launchers so plasma cannons are a trump card)
It is a matter of points. In 1000 point games I just run to combat as fast as possible with 3 squads of initiates loaded out with flamer and PF. In higher point games it is a matter of what they brought. If they are playing a balanced force go for the synapse creatures. If they are running a 6 monstrous creature wall with stealers running along behind, you had better hope you brought some heavy weapons with range.
Are you preparing for a specific opponent?
mass bolters + assault marines + hidden PF's

mass bolters and assault marines with furious charge (dunno if you can take it) make minced meat of hormagaunts and termagaunts.

Just sitting and shooting isn't too smart, though. it's helpful to run up their weaker flank with something just to make him react to you.

I would go with the lascannon here since they are cheaper don´t overheat, have a furthere range and you can only hit one TMC with one shot. also lascannons are much more worth because you have to roll a 2 or 3 instead of a 4 or 5.

Yes I am. And I think he goes for the "monstrous creature wall" thingy, coz he has like 5 carnifexes and 3 hive tyrants or something. So I count with meeting at least 2 carnifexes and 2 hive tyrants when I'll fight against him.
I fought a wall of monstrous creatures at a recent RT. I brought a fairly balanced force. It was around 1850 points. My predator annihilator with las sponsons made back some serious points. I had three speeders with ac. A dread with AC...This was a mistake on my part. I should have taken the Las/missle combo. I would have downed a carni faster than my twenty four inch range AC.
Anyway.....You need some massed up front fire power. My Predator and dread just were not enough.
geez my thought are just so jumble...

In retrospect
*2 preds with las sponsons
*1 dread w/las and missle
*2-3 squads of BT's in transports better yet...standing behind them as to not get "zealed" into an untenable situation
*3 LS with AC and HB....let the wall pass you by and zoom to the flank. EAT them up with 12 AC shot and 9 HB's. That is a squad of stealers a turn...starting around turn 2.
*Termies with 2 AC's are great but only after the wall is penetrated. CC is great also unless they have tons of stealers. Of course replacing this is a crusader squad works also.
*Some like the Assault squad but I would leave it out. Another crusader squad standing behind its rhino is great.
Of course you need Chaps for the first assault.
I took a cheese vow but the one that gives you 3+ to hit anything would probably be better.
So that is my story and I am sticking to it.
PS I would not deep strike anything as that will just get you assaulted on the next bug turn.

That was some intresting stuff. Thanks :)
