Butcher or hunter

What do you guys prefer?(in a 2k game and bear in mind my general is a tyrant) 2 butcher or a butcher and a hunter whit 2 cats.Iknow the hunter is great for taking out character and war machine but i think that only one butcher wont do much in the magic phase.

Anyway, what you guys think?

ive only ever played ogres in 1000 points, i didnt start collecting them that long ago, but what i find is that as opposed to most other armies, they can be quite character heavy and still do well. in 1000 points i field a bruiser, butcher, and a hunter, so i think that you could probably get away with a tyrant, 2 butchers, and the hunter, as long as you dont plan on investing in anything too crazy like a scraplauncher, or some rhinox riders. Just dont overspend on things in the rest of your army, and you should do well. If having that many characters bothers you, just think that the hunter is a bolt thrower, for about 3 times the points, but that comes with a free ogre and two cats.

so to summerize in two words: take both
Well, I wouldn't recommend 2 butchers for the reason that if a butcher has already cast (or attempted?) a spell, for another butcher to attempt it again, it will be 6+ to cast rather than the usual 3+. So, basically, I think it works out to be a little ineffective for the cost of another butcher. However, with 1 butcher you can still get maybe a spell or 2 (if you are lucky) off a turn, depending upon your opponents magic defense. If you give the butcher a bang stick, then you potentially have 5 spells a turn (or on average about 3 or 4 spells successfully cast...more likely to be 4 I think?). And if you roll a 4 or more, then your opponent will probably have to use 2 dice to ensure dispelling it. Remember to choose the order in which you cast your spells well, so that you can get the ones you want to go off to cast (if you are lucky enough with the dice of course).
So, I would recommend the Hunter (with 2 Sabreteeth (plural?)) and a Butcher. I would also recommend giving the butcher a dispel scroll because you will be low on magic defense unless you take things like the Gnoblar Theifstone and the Rune Banner etc. etc. The Hunter alone with his pets makes a great flanking unit, and I think that would be more useful in an ogre army than another butcher just for 2 extra power dice, because getting the other butcher to cast spells really wouldn't be that helpful (as stated before). Plus you would have to find another unit to babysit the other butcher unless you plan to field him on his own...
(I hope the ramble makes some sense and his helpful...I really do!)

If what you are saying is correcte,it make a lot of sense but, does in it have to be a sucesful spell before the other butcher has to cast on 6+?
I'm mulling over the same problem myself (see sig I'm building OK too)
I intend to use a fair number of gnoblars however, and want 2 squads of trapper. . .so I've decided that I do want the Hunter. (good thing as I already bought the model on cool factor) So I ask myself for 2000pts what do I do? Tyrant, Hunter & 2 butchers? Bruiser, hunter & 2 butchers? Too bad that hunters and butchers can't be general; it kinda cramps your options.

As I'm still building my army I'm not a veteren so don't count on me being right, but to the best of my reading it's only sucessful spells that need to be cast on a higher number. Also there are 6 spells in the list, there should be enough to go around anyway. I don't see it being a problem at the 2 butcher level. . . I see the advantage of 2 butchers being 2 more spell attempts, 1 more dispel die, pluss the option to take more dispel scrolls ect. . .
Now the way I see it is that the last two extra spells you try are the most likely to get off. If 1 butcher could get one off a turn(after dispells), then 2 butchers could get off 3. Tell me if my logic is wrong.

My question however is: is it worth pouring a lot more points into another expensive character? I just don't know. . .

i have played OK a few times, and i always took a hunter, i love those guys, and always with 2 tusks. i havent really used a butcher, but i dont really like magic that much lol, i would say go with a hunter and a butcher, but thats just my opinion.
