codex black star

ive been meaning to post this up so here it is
can i have some opinionson this plz
Origins
The origins of the black star mercenaries are unknown but their history has pointed towards the imperium. The system that they derive is outside the imperiums reach due to a ongoing warp storm that they only seam to navigate. The storm is caused by the systems strange sun, the sun is a dark purple and in space seems black surrounded by purple flames hence the name “black star”.

History
The black star mercenaries have appeared constantly through out the 41st millennium
answering the calls for help in the galaxy but often attack chaos because of an apparent grudge between them this is thought because chaos attacked a black star convoy. The Tau also have issues with the black star it is believed that the Tau distrusts them and prefer the Kroot as allies.(fluff changed for chaos players)

The void cannon rolls 2d6 for armor penetration
Shock cannons work like mutimeltas
Close combat weapons
Power blades count as power weapons but give +1 A for holding 2ccw
V-blades count as Close combat weapons but also give +1 A and +1 strength
War gear: use space marine’s armory. -termie armor bikes and jump packs

elite blade masters use gray knight termie

Special rules
master swords men: on a roll of a 6 when hitting the strike counts as being S:6

Special rules: crack shot: when a gun lord fires on a roll of a 6 when rolling to hit the gun lords shot counts as being AP1
Shock cannon: any member of the squad may be given a shock cannon for +10pts

Weapons: multi cannon but may be upgraded to a lascannon for+20pts or a shock cannon for +10pts

Type: tank agile: the tank can fire 1 non ordinance weapon if it moves further than 6” or 2 if it moves less than 6”

Weapons: the tank may have a void laser for +60pts or a pair of twin linked lascannons for +10pts

For +20 pts you may add +1 armour to any facing, you may do this 2 times all to gether for each tank
Souped up engine: the tank may instead of shooting roll 1d6 and move the extra distance marked on the dice

Weapons: the L.R.M.C is armed with a redeemer launcher and the sighter teams are armed with shock rifles

Rules: the system works by one of the sighter teams marking the target and then the missile platform launches a redeemer at the marked target.(works like Tau marker light and may only fire at marked targets)
The L.R.M.P can fire 2 types of redeemer rocket. It fires either a longbow class or a talon class
Long bow S6 AP4 ordenance1 5” blast
Talon S8 AP1 ordenance1

The L.R.M.P can fire at a range of 90” but the sighter teams can only mark targets at 36” away from them

Infiltrators: the sighter teams may infiltrate

Unique: the L.R.M.P team may only be taken in a black star army and may not be combined in another army it counts as heavy support.

I think its a little generous. That Void Cannon is insanely strong. Also you have a champ for 37 points with a WS of 6. My chaos lord doesn't even get that and he's got a base cost of 60pts.

Also one hole in your story is that chaos would never seek there help.........
least not this chaos player....... mua ha ha ha...........

but the tanks are rather pethetic

and chaos dident ask for their help the black star were selling weapons to them

man this is way over powered. mercenaries shouldnt have better gear then the imperium.

chaos doesnt buy weapons from anyone, we steal them and forge them in the eye.

i dont think they have better war gear than the impirium

their tanks and skimmers arent very good and their standard gun is rather lousy

and ive edited their stats to make them more fair

they are a sub race of humans but mildly mutated by the black star

but the mutation is more like space marrines implants like speed enhacers ect

They are still overpowered by far:

Firstly your lord cannot be more powerful that a SM/CSM lord, thwy are mercs not space marines.

Secondly, a drone with I5, whats up with that, all drones or automatons have I2.
Also your blade master shouldn't have WS 6, thats way out.

Otherwise this army seems like a twisted lovechild of the SM and guard codices, with no tanks :lol: .

Nearly all army codexes that are made up are usually wishful thinking i.e way to powerful, playtest and change them. Massacre of 1000 chaos space marines is highly unlikely as the chaos space marines are not as petty as do despatch an entire company of their legion to fight mercenaries
Your fluff doesnt work, for them to have anything to do with chaos they would have to be near the eye of terror, anything to do with tau - other side of galaxy it is not possible to travel that far quickly even in the 41st millenium

i know thwe fluff need work but i dont think csm's could take a nuke hehehe :D


look i posted this to get ideas to improve them of down grade them
so ill shange the stats to make them more fare ( and the drones are more like androids like the terminator)

Ok your base 2 weapons one is just plain better then the other. Make the Assault 2 weapon's range 12 Inches and make it AP 6, and make the rifle AP 5 instead and youll be somewhere.

Also - S9 AP 1 ORD? What are you thinking mate ^_^. The only thing comperable is the Defilers Blast Cannon I can think of which is S8 AP3 ORD which is MASSIVE. Its like the entire model.

Your army is interesting but way way way too good. You need to tone it down to 3rd edition standards of good =).

Also as an aside - whats the diffirence between AP2 and AP1?

ap2 is like an ap bullet ap1 is a weapon iwth something special about it (edits made)
