If you're starting an army then you should get the Battle Box. Its a great deal and after the purchase you'll have a nice amount of models that you can add anything too and have a great army still.

If I had to give you further purchases then i would go with a Hive Tyrant. That should hold you over till the next codex comes out.

If you can't find the new or old Battle Box then go ahead and grab a Hive Tyrant. You can't go wrong with this model. He's well rounded and useful in any situation.

Any More Questions pleas post.

As personal opinion, id get a venomthrope, its going to be a nice specialised beasty to start off with, especially if you gravitate toward a horde.

Other than that, as Willance says, a battlefore to get your numbers up and a tyrant and your well away.

Maybe a broodlord to lead your stealer squad too, if the money applies well enough.

so you have two hundred dollars to spend and your codex is covered? Okay then go for battleforce, hive tyrant, and then hold on to your money. Take some time to look at and read the codex. Don't think you have to spend all your money at once. From the White dwarf battle report a trygon or mawloc are looking like great units. Also if your not planning on giving your tyrant wings then tyrant guard are a must. So just get the battleforce and tyrant and sit back. Set up and play with your army a bit then determine what else to buy.

But if you want to buy it all at once find ten more dollars and get the trygon, battleforce, and hive tyrant.

Well of course your not cause it would be a bad idea to buy any models right now. The fact of the matter is that with this new codex not so far off it is best to save your money and then when the codex comes out look over it and then write up what you need to get. But i'm a hundred percent sure you will need the battleforce and hive tyrant at least. I can't fully tell you what else to get till i see all the rule changes

I am just going to enforce what has already been said. A Battlfeforce, and then a Tyrant. You will need the extra gaunts to shield your stealers, and the tyrant provides you with a little bit of synapse.
I guess if you need any more models, a synapse creature is wanted. Whether it be a squad of warriors, or maybe a few zoanthropes, synapse is going to be needed for 48 models.

looks like trygon/mawloc is currently winning.

My reason for saying it as a choice:

It allows you to solidify the look of your army. Such a large model forces you to do all your sculpting/painting/converting best work.
That, and its a sexy sexy beast.

I often pick out a single model or image to use to base the rest of my army on, and i think the large beasties do that for you. You may want to go for more synapse in the form of hive tyrant but they are nasty, fiddly models if you want winged, massive monsters or something different, which is why i suggest the new plastic model.

Good choice on the battleforce :)

I'd suggest an HQ choice, so a Tyrant is the obvious one but a Trygon Alpha can be made with the Trygon/Mawloc kit. I'd wait until you have the book to decide wihch Trygon/Mawloc variant you would most likely use though.

Zoanthropes were my first buy :D I got a battle force for my birthday and I loved the Zoanthropes so bought a set of three then and there.

If you go for the Trygon though, you may want to consider Raveners for a bit of a bigger punch, could be amusing ;)

depends on......

depends on what kind of army you want.
if you want something fast you really should buy hormagaunts and oder fleet leaping creatures.
or an army whit mostly deep strikers. you could take the trygon/mawlock, Gargoyels and ravenders.

I always recomment the broodlord, he rules.

does anyone know what the mawlock can do.
