You don't have to take Storm Troopers if you take the Grenadiers in your Doctrines, it's in the new FAQ.

All good except for Hardened Fighters. Not a very useful doctrine. For less points you could take Cameoline which would help your game far more than Hardened Fighters ever will.

Command Platoon (HQ) - 255 Pts

Missile Launcher; Lasguns (x1); Hardened Fighters; Iron Discipline

Heroic Senior Officer
-Medallion Crimson
-Frag Grenades
-Krak Grenades

Medic (Veteran)
Lasgun; Medic

Standard (Veteran)

Couple of things to remove:

Medic (not cost effective)
All grenades (you really shouldn't be assaulting enemy that is in cover or vehicles)
Rocket Launcher (This squad is for leadership, they can't fulfill that role if they got shot up because they've got a rocket. This squad's job is leading by huddling behind some hard cover)
Medallion Crimson (For the same cost a Power Weapon will do you better. Switch.)

Missile Launcher Squad (Anti Tank Squad)
Missile Launcher (x3); Lasguns; Hardened Fighters
For 15 pts I'd upgrade them to Lascannons. And in case you're new to 40k, Rockets do not make very good anti horde weapons, often your opponent will space his men out so you can only hit one with the template anyway.

9 x Hardened Veterans (Elites) - 165 Pts
Lascannon; Lasguns (x5); Meltagun (x3); Frag Grenades; Hardened Fighters

1 x Hardened Veteran Sergeant
Close combat Weapon; Laspistol; Frag Grenades
Meltaguns are only any good in a suicide deepstriker squad, in which case the cost of the squad should be kept to a minimum. If you want ten strong squad then go for x3 plasma, x1 Lascannon.

And drop the the grenades.

Infantry Platoon (Troops) - 240 Pts

Command Squad
Laspistol and CCW (x4); Hardened Fighters; Iron Discipline

1 Junior Officer

Infantry Squad
Missile Launcher; Lasguns; Hardened Fighters

1 x Sergeant
Lasgun

Infantry Squad
Missile Launcher; Lasguns; Hardened Fighters

1 x Sergeant
Lasgun
You need some more anti horde weapons. I suggest switching the Rockets in this platoon for Heavy Bolters.

1 Junior Officer

Infantry Squad

Infantry Squad
Missile Launcher; Lasguns; Hardened Fighters

1 x Sergeant
Lasgun
Find the points to upgrade these rockets to Lascannons, they will see you a lot further.

6 x Grenadiers - 90 Pts
Hellguns (x4); Flamer (x1); Grenade Launcher (x1); Frag Grenades; Krak
Grenades

1 x Grenadier Veteran Sergeant
Close combat Weapon; HellPistol; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades
Grenade Launchers and Flamers are horrible wastes of the BS 4. I suggest you drop grenadiers altogether and make these Storm Troopers. Then give them infiltrate and two plasmaguns.

4 x Storm Troopers (Elites) - 79 Pts
Hellguns (x2); Grenade Launcher (x1); Meltagun (x1); Frag Grenades; Krak
Grenades

1 x Storm Trooper Veteran Sergeant
HellPistol; Power Weapon; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades
Give them deepstrike and change that Grenade Launcher for a second melta gun and then you've got a perfect suicide deepstrike squad.

1 x Hellhound (Fast Attack) - 130 Pts
Inferno Cannon; Hull Heavy Bolter
Rough Terrain Modification
Hunter-Killer Missile
Rough terrain Modifications. Ask yourself exactly how many times do you plan to attempt charging through terrain. The answer should be zero. So it can be dropped.

Hunter Killer Rockets are also terrible wastes of points, definitely get rid of it and buy a Heavy Stubber which is worth every point.

1 x Basilisk (Heavy Support) - 120 Pts
Earthshaker Cannon; Hull Heavy Bolter
Armoured crew compartment
To use the Basilisk effectively, you should be placing it out of Line Of Sight where it cannot be shot at. Makes an Armoured Crew Compartment kind of redundant doesn't it?

1 x Leman Russ Battle Tank (Heavy Support) - 180 Pts
Battle Cannon; Hull Lascannon; Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Rough Terrain Modification
Hunter-Killer Missile
Just drop the Terrain mods and the Rocket, then you've got a nice tank.

-So no shooty, and just keep them at the back?

-I am not new to 40k, but I always like the option to use blast. But in this case I will take your suggestion.
-Also aren't plasma the same as Melta in terms of range?

You need some more anti horde weapons. I suggest switching the Rockets in this platoon for Heavy Bolters.

OK - but how about Autocannons?

- I keep the terrain mods because I am often fighting in Cityfight where I am constantly moving my tanks over rubble, hills and barricades. I wouldn't want the tanks to become immobile!

-A basilisk is not very good out of LoS because it can only shoot if it can see the target (unless I take indirect, but that only works over 36").

-

Just drop the Terrain mods and the Rocket, then you've got a nice tank.

-

-See Under Hellhound.

Thanks for the input!

I agree with everything that triumph said, but to answer your questions 1. meltas have half the range of plasma, heavy bolters would be better because you gett more shots and the lascannons would be bringing things down. With the points you save I reccomend getting another grenadier unit with 2 plasmas in chimeras. Good luck

Yes, that's the way LD command squads should be used. If you want to shoot then get them a mortar.

-Also aren't plasma the same as Melta in terms of range?[/b]
No, Plasmaguns have the same range as Lasguns, which is double that of a melta

OK - but how about Autocannons?
With only 2 shots, I'd place Autocannons more in an anti light vehicle role. Heavy Bolters are definitely the better anti horde weapon.

Ah, fair enought then.

Unless there is some city fight rule (I don't play city fight) that helps shield the Bassie, it's probably going to get smoked very quickly because of its huge gun. For that many points I'd rather buy a hell hound or find about 35 more points and get another Russ.
