So it boils down to this -

Monstrous Creatures count as scoring units.
Independent Characters do not count.

What about a Daemon Prince? I would think yes because it doesn't say "Independent Character" in his profile. But I was looking for some confirmation.

Yes, you're right, Monstrous creatures do count and independent characters do not.

Therefore, because it doesn't say Independent Character in the stats, it does count as scoring.

(unless I'm missing something here, don't have to codex with me)

They've nailed it on the head. Also, independent. No "a" in the word independent.
