DarkPhoenix's Dark Angels & Dark Eldar WIP

Here are my two painted named characters, Azrael and Ezekiel. I usually start with the HQ/Lords in my armies and paint from there.

You will note that Ezekiel is painted DA green with blue shoulders instead of the 'normal' blue armour. I did not like the way it looked in my army, and I really don't *have* to paint it blue, just make sure there is some blue on there!

Hey! Your painting looks really good to me! Any chance of slightly bigger pictures? The colours look really nice and your painting looks really clean! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures! :)
Thanks.
hey, some more dark angels huh? Seems like these guys are becoming pretty popular around the forum.
I like your work so far. I think the armour could do with a bit of highlighting and a little shading.
I like your robes very much though. They almost look like caramel.
Good to see the bigger pics uploaded. I'm with SKnight567 in that it's good to see more DA cropping up on the forum.
The robes look really nice and smooth, the armour could do with a little highlight on it and the bolt gun could also do with a slightly darker red somewhere to give it a bit of definition(?). But on the whole really nice, keep up the good work!

Some good posts for ideas/support or just to have a good look at are SKnight567 and Sovietspace, I do a bit of DA as well but those guys make mine look pretty shoddy to be honest!!!

Zahariel
Nicely done robes, my only issues are, I dislike gloss varnish a pet hate of mine, and also I think the green is a little too light, otherwise nicely painted model, keep it up.

Damien
Thanks for the comments Damien. The gloss issue will be fixed once I've sprayed them.

I have enjoyed reading all three of your WIPs, as well as Cyric's this last month. You four have inspired me. When I paint my land speeder, I may actually paint the controls instead of just painting the panel boltgun with badab black wash!

Ha ha now thats dedication! I'm a little obsessive compulsive about painting the interiors of my rhino's, even though it's rarely ever seen I have to do it! But I like the little details like that, it can really make a model look much better!

Zahariel
It definitely can!

Company Master

Here's my 3rd Company Master, Maximus. This is the first Dark Angel I painted, a little over a year ago now I guess.

I have painted and magnetized all the weapon options that come in the commander box set giving me flexibility when building my lists without having to have multiple models.

nice models, very clean and the robes look great.
one thing: i think the red could do with a little more shading, but that might just be the photo's.
can't wait to see the tactical squad.
Overall, the minis are quite good looking - the green stands out really well. I would however have to agree with the previous poster about the shading. In places it is little too flat - the sword for example. Add a wash of the right colour and they'll be much better.

I have experimented with red ink for the power weapons, but I'm not too impressed with the way it has turned out. I have seen some amazing paint jobs on power weapons. I think I can try to incorporate some of that.
Thanks Mr. Nid. I'm currently working on my Master of the Deathwing, which I have affectionately named Cap'n Jack. Then I'll be done the first 1k points on my Deathwing. I'll probably move on then to my Master of the Ravenwing, whom I am thinking of naming Cap'n Barbossa...

I'll try and get some new pics up soon.

Cheers, DP
I very much indeed like the names! I take it you are a fan of pirates of the carribean?

OK, so finally finished my Master of the Deathwing.

I've not given much thought to his back banner, so I've just printed the Deathwing company banner and taped it on - I don't think it will be permanent though. Now to decide what to work on next... Cheers

Looks good from what I can see but we need bigger pics before we can comment properly. I'm interested in seeing the base. :)
Thanks Sknight. I will update the pictures as soon as I figure out how to make them appear small in the post as they are (faster load times / less space) and get bigger when you click them. I've seen it on other posts...

-------EDIT----------

I have put in the large version of the pictures until I can figure out how to show thumbnails that click to be larger. The base is made from cut up Cities of Death floor pieces. Normally I would not have done this, but when I put the Term Captain beside the other models, he came up short... shorter even than normal marines, which was unaccepable. Now he towers over them all. :)

Ah, much better. Now I can see whats going on. Looks really good, especially the power sword. I reckon you should paint the sand on the base though, I find it a little bit odd that it's one solid colour. The terminator honours and the robes look really nice aswell as the purity seal on his hand.
Great stuff! Rep+
