Diving Falcons [1500]

The Imperial Guard Diving Falcons are a small special ops force that drops into a battlefield and takes key objectives quickly, providing a front for larger numbers and armor to appear.

Now, my plan was to use the Drop Troop Doctrine to drop the Storm Troopers, and Sentinels into key areas to allow me to get the objectives or to provide maximum pain. However, I'm confused, the Grenadier Doctrine says that the troop version of the Storm Trooper can't Deep Strike, but the Drop Troop Doctrine says you can Deep Strike any Infantry and Sentinels, I hope someone can clear this up for me.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Grenadiers are not Guard "Infantry" as per Doctrines in the codex. They are treated as Stormtroopers in all facets, but they cannot be upgraded with Doctrines. That is why it is so specific.

If you want a Drop trooping Army, consider Elysians.

Diggums is correct here.

For a reference to what counts as a "Guard Infantry unit" please see page 55 of the codex, bottom left of the page.



Awww. I was afraid of that, wish I would have read that. Well, alright, I guess I'm just going to use the storm troopers as normal, and drop in the Sentinals. Well, it's not a total lose.
That can be a very effective army.

Have a some core squads that are equiped with HWs and SWs, start those squads on the field with a Basilisk, Indirect Fire and Improve Comms.

Then drop the 3 Squads of Stormies, Sentinals, and Command squads with 3 Meltas or three Plasmas. It is a real fun and effective army to play.

Well, my idea behind this army is I wanted only Infantry and Sentinals, no tanks or transports. I wanted to drop them in, attack certain things. It was mostly very fluffy, and sort of like FW's Elysian's. Can I get some help on configurating it better, I like full size squads as well.

I'd like to keep it around 1500 points.

Well if you dont want transports of any kind your going to need to lose the grenadiers, a good alternative is to take valkyries, works very well into a drop troop list, lose one of the grenadier squads and your upgrades on your sentinels and you can afford it, anyways valkyries come with hellstrike missiles wich are much better then hunter-killer missiles for armor penetration.

Im also not sure why you want/need the lascannon on the veterans, if you want to deep strike with them lascannons are not so good. Either change the squads to 3 meltas/plasmas with no heavy weapons or give them cameoline and let them deploy as infiltrators and kick ass.

Other thing i noticed is your sentinels upgrades are costing you an extra sentinel per squad, lost the ****pit and hunter killer missiles and you have 6 instead of 9.

Should also put the different pattern sentinels in the same squads, things that you want to shoot at with a lascannon are not necessarely good for autocannons.

Well, I don't see Valkyries in the Imperial Codex, where do you find the rules for such a model. What if you opponents won't let you use such a Air Power? Are they Games Day Legal?

I have changed the list after overlooking it, noticed it wasn't giving me the Orbital Drop feeling I was going for, so here is the updated one:

I plan on just setting up the HQ in a good section of cover, and not Deep Striking him. I'd rather have his LD be used for the rest of the Army. I will probably Deep Strike in the Special Weapon Squad, try to get a good position, or just keep them covering the Command Squad.

I slimed it down to two squads of 3 sentinels each. One for Super Anti Heavy Tank, the other for light tank/heavy infantry. I will most likely be deep striking both of these.

This gives me entire army the ability to Deep Strike, and I have no tank which is what I was going for. Tell me what you all think.
