By way of explaining the battlefield:

We had three players including myself and a couple of spare hours, so we got our raised surface (two tables pushed together) put a marker somewhere in the middle and traced a large sphere with a four-foot radius. Each player was allocated 120 degrees of circle, and had to assemble 10" or more away from the lines that defined the 120 degrees. Some terrain was then divided into the thirds. Anyhow:

"Graargh!" yelled Grudgnil the Black as he smashed the two goblins together. They fell, dazed, to the floor. "You is sum of our boyz now, so you wil be'ave wiv sum respec' to us at da top of da leadaship!"The mob of Goblins quickly stopped squabbling. Since the two Black Orcs and their fairly small retinue had conquered their tribe and kicked Grubfoot, the boss, into a squig, they had re-organised the sprawling tribe into a mighty fighting confederation. "Now lissin up! We wants ta make our mark fer Gork and da uvver one on da squishies!" The Goblins hurriedly nodded their agreement. "So der is two of da squishie armies about ter fight in da next valley! And we will battle 'em, and we will crush 'em!" The Goblins kept nodding. "Get ready!" yelled Grudgnil, and punched a nearby goblin so hard he decapitated him.

Turn 1:

The High Elves looked down the hills at the Druchii host. It was certainly bigger than theirs. Of course, with an inspirational leader like Tyrion, they could not fail. The hero himself stood alone between the Silver Helm and the Archers. Daringly, he spurred Malhandir onwards into Orc charge range, daring them to attack. The Silver Helm followed his fine example by heading towards the Dark Riders, and the Archers also, inexplicably, moved forward. The Shadow Warriors leapt from their hiding places in direct conflict with the Shades. Behind them was Prince Aenar, following to reinforce.
The Druchii quickly retaliated. The Riders, with a Master in their midst, smashed into the Silver Helms, who were quick to retaliate, felling one of the horsemasters. Meanwhile, the Hydra advanced towards the Arrer Boyz and the Black Guard and Corsairs also advanced. The Night Goblins, tittering-well, fanatically, released two Fanatics who ploughed into the Archers, killing ten. The bowmen stoicly held their ground. The Troll took the bait and smashed into Tyrion, and the chariots collided in a fierce battle. Grudgnil, who was ridin' the Orc Chariot, lashed out at the Elves, but the Lion Chariot struck first, managing to kill the orcs. Enraged, Grudgnil pulled himslf out of the wreckage and dealt the Chracian-built chariot such a blow it broke in two.

Turn 2:

Prince Aenar reached the Shade/Shadow Warrior conflict and immediately slew two Shades, who responded by killing two Shadow Warriors. The Dark Riders lost another of their men, but managed to slay a Silver Helm in return. The Archers and bolt Thrower fired at the Fanatics, killing them both. Tyrion was unable to kill the troll (who was of course unable to kill Tyrion). The unit of 15 spearmen smashed into the Dark Elf Spearmen. In the ensuing conflict, each side lost four warriors but refused to back down. The other unit of spearmen charged a Night Goblin Spearman unit, but failed to kill anything! In return, the Goblins managed to kill five warriors!
Aenar was pleased with his Shade tally, but when he heard a harsh, female battle-cry he turned around in fear as the Witch Elves charged him. He brought his sword up, slaying one Elf, but the others brutally dispatched him. The Shadow Warriors tried to flee, but the Shades cut them down. The Hydra ploughed into the Arrer Boys, causing mass panic in the surrounding units and killing nine (!) but one of its' handlers was killed. Grudgnil, breathing heavily, was charged by the Black Guard. With no-one to help him, the Big Boss was cut down. The Corsairs charged the Big Uns', somehow killing eight including the standard bearer, but losing two, including their standard-bearer. The presence of their Master, Roac the Heretic, saved the day for them. The Spider Riders charged the Crossbows unit the Scorceress was with, but only the Boss made it, and he only killed one elf before being slain. Moonknife, the Goblin Shaman, tried to cast a spell but it was beyond his power. He went mad, and frenzied.

Turn 3:

The Night Goblins killed another two High Elf Spearmen, losing two of their own. However, Hwen, the final High Elf Prince, joined the combat, slaying two goblins himself. A final fanatic was released, smashing inot the corsairs. somehow only one died, and the Corsairs caused the Big Uns to flee before chasing them and killing all of them. In return, Moonknife cast 'Eadbutt (through Nibblas' Itty Ring) and killed the Reaver. Zhorg, the Warboss of the Orcish Horde
, tried to ensnare the Corsairs as he charged them from behind and the othe Night Goblin unit charged the flank. Five Corsairs and a goblin died. Tyrion slew the Troll, and the Night Goblins slew the final High Elf Spearmen, but lost another two men to Hwen. The Goblin Archers fired at the High Elf ones, who fired back. In the crossfire a goblin died.
The Hydra killed all but four Orc Arrer Boyz, but lost its' final Beastmaster. The Dark Riders, aided by the Witch Elves, lost two riders (and three withces) but killed four Silver Helm and caused them to flee. The Druchii/Asur Spearmen battle continued, the Druchii dwindling to just two warriors, the Asur to nine. The Shades caused a wound on the Bolt Thrower.

Turn 4:

The Swordmasters finally entered combat with the Night Goblin Spearmen, slaying an impressive eight. Meanwhile, the Silver Helm rallied. Scurion, the Master commanding the final Dark Rider, felled the High Elf Mage with two bolts from his magical crossbow. The Witch Elves charged and wiped out the High Elf Spearmen assaulting the Dark Elf Warriors, effectively rescuing the last two. Seeing her chance, Kara-Krill, High Scorceress and leader of the Druchii host, cast Black Horror on the Swordmasters/Night Goblin engagement. All Night Goblins involved were killed. Hwen was wounded, as was Biggles, the nearby Goblin Shaman, Amazingly, the Bladelord survived. Dazed, Hwen, the last Prince, stumbled away only to be killed by the Fanatic. The Hydra, enraged by the death of its' master, finished off the Orc Arrer Boyz. Both the Black Guard and the Squig Herd joined the Corsair/Night Goblin conflict. Four Black Guard, all the Squig Herd, aand all but two Corsairs died. The Warboss also suffered two wounds.

Turn 5:

Enraged at losing his magician, Tyrion charged Master Scurion and his lone Dark Rider. They elected to stand and shoot, something that turned out to be a poor decision as they were both hacked to death. The Silver Helms charged and wiped out the remaining Forest Goblins, overruning into the Rock Lobber. The Archers shot the last Fanatic to death. The Night Goblin Archers were shot to pieces by both units of Crossbowmen. The Bladelord charged Biggles the Shaman, failed to kill him, and was promptly killed in return. Despite every last Black Guard and one of the last two Corsairs dying, the Warboss was finished off and two Night Goblins also died.

Turn 6:

Tyrion knew he had little time in which to steer his forces to victory. To that end he charged the Hydra and somehow finished off the foul beast. His Archers shot Biggles the Shaman to death, and the Silver Helm charged and killed Moonknife, the other Shaman. Their victory was short-lived as the Witch Elves charged them. One witch did die, but they wiped out the Silver Helm. The Shades charged and wiped out the Bolt Thrower, (losing one Shade) but it was too late for its' last victims: the High Scorceress and five Crossbowmen. The last two Dark Elf Spearmen charged the Archers and killed two. The Archers tried to flee, but were cut down. The last Corsair also died, but the two Masters that formerly commanded the Black Guard and Corsairs killed six Goblins, and as the unit turned to flee, wiped them out.

Results:
DE: (approx) 2300 vps,
HE: (approx) 1750 vps,
OG: (approx) 1300 vps.

Roac and Carra watched Tyrion and the reaminder of his retinue scamper away in the distance as the shades and witch elves finished off the very last Night Goblins on the field. Carra turned to Roac. "A solid victory, I should think." roac nodded. "Of course, we were unable to finish of the thrice-accursed Tyrion. But victoy in every other respect."

Roac interrupted. "The Orc threat is gone, but, as you have said, Tyrion is not yet on a sacrificial altar. If we are quick, and speedily marshall our forces, we may catch him before he leaves harbour for Ulthuan."

"Or perhaps even after he has left harbour for Ulthuan."

Roac smiled, and loaded her crossbow. "You take one half of the army, I'll take the other. Honour and glory to the Druchii who gives Tyrions' head to the witch king."

Carra watched her go. "Honour and glory."

Sounds like a fun and bloody game. How do you do the scoring for a 3-way battle? Is it however many points in guys you kill? Seems like that could be difficult to keep track of, especially if you break someone and they flee off the table, or the unit breaks from one enemy and flees into another enemy and gets killed. Either way sounded like a good time.

I imagine the points would be difficult. You'd probably have to record who kills what to determine who gets the points. Might be why the battle report is so detailed though too.

We recorded the victory points as they were won, then treated it as a 2,000 point game. The Druchii scored a solid victory against both armies, the high elves a minor victory against the orcs.

EDIT: Of course, I suppose you could consider it a territorial thing, with objectives etc. Either way, it was a great battle, with the layout of the battlefield led to the armies procuring essential two different 1,000 point lists specially for fighting each of the opposing armies.

3 player games are alot of fun. We have scored ours in a similar way in the past, which is funny because in Asur, Druchii, Dwarf we often have mutual destruction on the part of the Asur and Druchii with minimal damage to the Dwarves, then the dwarves will lose because Asur and Druchii have wiped each other out with the dwarves only really cleaning up an already devastated battlefield.

Great report, thanks very much for taking the time to write it.
