After the rave reviews from a number of people, I've decided to finally give Thunderwolf Cavalries a try. If they turn out to be as good as people say, I might even give them a permanent place in my SW army.

1500pts

Alpha Squad
Rune Priest Blackheart - Chooser, Meltabomb - 115
8x Grey Hunters - Flamer, Power Weapon - 170
Rhino

Beta Squad
8x Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Power Weapon - 175
Rhino

Gamma Squad
8x Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Power Weapon - 175
Rhino

Cavalry #1
4x Thunderwolf Cavalry - Thunderhammer - 230

Cavalry #2
4x Thunderwolf Cavalry - Thunderhammer - 230

Heavy #1
5x Long Fangs - 2x Lascannons, 2x Missile Launchers - 145

Heavy #2
5x Long Fangs - 2x Plasma Cannons, 2x Missile Launchers - 135

Heavy #3
5x Long Fangs - 4x Missile Launchers - 115

Total - 1490

2000pts

Omega Squad
Rune Priest Loki - Chooser - 110
8x Grey Hunters - Flamer, Power Weapon - 170
Rhino

Cavalry #3
4x Thunderwolf Cavalry - Thunderhammer - 230

Total - 2000

So what do you guys think? C+C welcomed.

I like both lists. Good HQ choices, good troop selection and balance, and the potential for a devastating turn 2 charge.

However, I doubt you'd get far without people calling cheese on your 3 squads of Long Fangs. The argument could be made that taking 3 squads is like taking 3 stationary Land Raiders with 5 heavy weapons and 6 wounds each, while still be able to shoot at two targets. Now, obviously Long Fangs can't transport troops and they can't move as fast as a tank, but I do think 3 squads still might be a little to cheesy for some. I personally don't have a problem with it, but I thought I'd bring it up just to here your thoughts.

Ok, to "dumb down" my competitive list in case if I'm playing lists that are not as competitive, I could make the following changes:

Swap out HEAVY #3 for:

Lambda Squad (sits on objectives)
5x Grey Hunters - Meltagun - 115
Razorback - Heavy Bolter

or

Wolf Guards
3x Wolf Guard - 1x Combi-flamer, 2x Combi-meltas, 1x Power Fist, 2x Power weapons - 109

Solid list, running 2 units at 1500 is ballsy but it does work against a lot of lists.

Here's my riff, not necessarily better, just preference:

1500pts

Alpha Squad
Rune Priest Blackheart - Chooser
8x Grey Hunters - Flamer, Power Weapon OR MotW
WGL - PW/Combiflamer
Rhino

Beta Squad
8x Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Power Weapon OR MotW
WGL - PF/Combimelta
Rhino

Gamma Squad
8x Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Power Weapon OR MotW
WGL - PF/Combimelta
Rhino

Cavalry #1
4x Thunderwolf Cavalry - Powerfist

Cavalry #2
4x Thunderwolf Cavalry - Powerfist

Wet Paper Towel Screen Cavalry #1
7x Fenrisian Wolves

Heavy #1
5x Long Fangs - 4x Missile Launchers

Heavy #2
5x Long Fangs - 4x Missile Launchers

I don't like Lascannons at 1500, if you're running into high av at 1500 2 lascannons just aren't going to solve your problems imo.

bathhurst has better heavy support choices than you and you haven't even got 3 scoring units. i prefer four however. plus TWC don't cut it an iron priest with it and cyberwolfs behind a rhino rush would work however.
thanks

Your writing is a little hard to understand. Please use proper capitalization and punctuation as per forum rules. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean when you said I "haven't even got 3 scoring units." I do have 3 units of GH and could add a 4th by dropping my Long Fangs #3:

Lambda Squad (sits on objectives)
5x Grey Hunters - Meltagun - 115
Razorback - Heavy Bolter

I said, Bathhurst has better heavy support choices than you. Well a wiser heavy support choice, because he has chosen the right weapons to maximise the long fangs efficiency. which is pooping none AV14 tanks.

Plus i said he has more socring units than you, but i was problaby sluggish at the time so i apologise for my sloppiness at the time. Now that i am more alert, you do have the a good amount fo scoring units, but i prefer 4 scoring units from experience.

Finally, i think an iron priest on a thunderwolf mount with cyberwolf bodyguards are better than TWC, or it could be just me because they work better with my list than TWC do.

Yeah... it's uh, just you.

My heavy support is cheaper, but overall less effective. I gave my reason for not taking the lascannons. jy's list is pretty solid. In all honesty, his list is better than mine against SM/IG, mine's a little better against CSM/Daemons etc. It's a matter of playstyle preference and usual opponents really.

I only used the IP with TW mount as a points filler until i could find something else, it was a very fluffy choice too :p.
