I started off with a fairly serious idea of what I wanted for WH40k, but now I'm starting to feel I need something more fun to play with. I want to make something crazy. A joke army that can still function. I've juggled ideas, but nothing really fit. Something like that Hello Kitty WH army.

I toyed with the idea of Witchhunters in Japanese schoolgirl outfits, but now I wonder if there could be something even crazier. Super Mario orks, perhaps.

Granted, all this is just to whittle the time away untill the new ork codex comes out.... but honestly, I wanna have fun.

I'm also considering custom building a entire army first in clay, then casted in resin. I have the skills for it, so it's alright. Tyranids are perfect, since they are supposed to look completely different from each other. Inspired by this

carnifex I saw. Though I wonder if there's anything else I can work with. Maybe a series of Auxillaries for the Tau.
Seriously. Just throw ideas at me. NOTHING is too crazy. I'll consider ANYTHING. :p

EDIT: My only real problem is with green stuff, but that's only cause I haven't worked with it before. I will soon, though.

EDIT2: You know, I made this thread for my own use, but I'm starting to feel this thread would be useful to more then just me. :p I mean, I can't be the only one who wants a place to give or get crazy and unusual ideas, am I?

Oxymoran's are always pretty funny, you could try something like an army of fat greasy elves, anerexsic (can't spell for my life.) orgres, tall dwarfs, or maybie an army of impecably dressed orcs (i'm thinking tux's and tophats...). By the way are you talking fantasy or 40k?

how about a squat army; done oompa loompa style! though that would take some work.. or an imperial guard army made up of elderly (old.. not 'eldar-ly') people.. then theres always gay marines.. i started making some out of some marines i got from a friend.. but they made me feel homophobic...:ninja:

Make an IG clown army. They can be dressed in underpants, have big red noses, colourful 'fros, and can have potato launchers for mortars. Their tank can be rediculously funny-looking, and they can have flowers on their chests.

Leaning towards 40k, but I don't have a problem with FB figures.

Orks in tuxs. X3 Love that idea.

How about a Space Marine army based on the Turn Signal on a Land Raider's main character's chapter, The Emperor's Pointy Sticks (" alright boys its time for our battle cry....POKE EM' IN THE EYE"). They have dozens of characters and of course Kren and Frep's Land Raider. This is my dream joke army.

Look on Google and look for some Warhammer 40k images. Some people have some crazy conversions, especially for the Emperor's Children armies *OH THE PINK PANTIES.... THERE EVERY WHERE I TELL YOU*

Another idea would be a Imperial Guard army with guardsmen who think there Orks. Give them Shoota's for Lasguns and Truckks for Chimeras. This wouldn't require so much green stuff work as much as hacking and slashing bits together. And heck its Orks so it can look messy.

By the way that Carnafex looks awesome were did you find the image?

Good luck with you army.

I have a partial army (more like 3 squads) of all Movie and TV personality conversions. Granted such characters are inevitably copyrighted by some big producer somewhere, but I have the A-Team (Hanibal, Face, Murdock, BA, and COl. Decker) and their van (Converted Rhino), Terminator 1 and 2, Spaceballs (Dark helmet, Lonestar, Barf, the droid) and their Winnebego, and The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen (Movie), and the Punisher. If you came up with interpretations for more movies and TV - that would be pretty fun! Good luck!

I'm pretty sure the TEPS from the comic are the personal custom chapter of the artist of the comic. In other words, if I WERE to do a conversion of them, I might as well do a custom chapter myself. :p With my own crazy theme... Like a army of Cheese worshippers or something.

I found that image from some random forum, but I'm sure you can find it at the paintingclinic.com

I'm starting to see an army of orks with evening wear and ninja kommandos. :p

Oh, and I'll take a look at converted Slaanesh armies as suggested. XP

Can I just mention Squats aren't a crazy idea? :< I mean, frankly, squats have been around forever, and despite GW's stuffing them headfirst into the Great Devourer's maw, it's not really a wild enough idea.

Just not what I'm looking for.

Speedfreaks with looted vehicles... I've got a feeling this has been done. :p

Speaking of Tux, a local boy made an entire army of penguins... Not the prettiest sculpts but at least you could tell what whey were. :)
I think he used goblin rules for them but I'm not certain.

For a more serious army you could do a grot revolutionary army using IG or Lost and the Damned rules. The Red Gobbo as general, various grots as troops, maybe convert some from warhammer goblins with metal weapons etc.

Someone in Ottawa made a squat army that is pretty cool. He used a box of dwarves and a box of cadian troopers to make one unit though, so it would be pretty expensive. It's short little dwarf IG, use the heads, legs and arms from dwarves and weapons and torso from IG. Add some pouches and stuff, it's pretty cool. Tiny bastards!

Frankly, I like the Grot revolution idea alot. I only hesistated because A) Pewter figures. :< B) No fluff. :p C) New grot figures will probably be out when new codex comes out. So I might as well wait. XD

It was a chaos dwarf army. For that character with mechanic legs he used a penguin with a red rubber glove on its head and those robotic pants from Wallace & Gromit. That got me laughing :D

If you're not afraid of the conversions, how about an empire army with everyone dressed Willy Wonka style, and drinking cups of tea, chapions with larger cups, standard beareres with teapots, musicians have cake trays, heroes have bottles of wine, lords champagne. Or just an all alcohol themed army?

or maybe make those komandos in James Bond-ish positions, you know, sneaky, with a pistol... hope you understand what i mean.. but damn, the mental picture i got when i read that, made me want to ditch the Greater Good, and yell WAAGH! (in a sophisticated and non-offensive manner of course)... but of course, that would require me to get like a hundred times better at using Greenstuff that i am ATM., which i can't seem to find the time for, with all that homework and stuff.. :(

oh well, when the summer holidays hit us... when they hit us, you'll see :shifty:

Actually there is fluff for it in Gorkamorka, but the odds that you've read any of it (or can get a hold of it) are pretty slim... There's a reason not even Specialist Games mentions it :D

Basically some of the grots on the planet got fed up with the way the orcs were running things, and when they found out grots didn't get tickets on the ship they were building to get off the planet they started a revolution. It didn't go too well, as can be imagined, but some of them left and started the resistance. Basically a communist-inspired gang of grots, their symbol was a red star :)
They even had a computer game planned.
