Help against Vampire Counts

My friend always manages to beat me, he plays Necrarch and I've beat him twice, drawn once and lost so many times I cant even remember. I play all types of chaos I'm not sure who to go with so I switch often, the Legions I play the most are Tzeentch, Undivided and Khorne. He takes a full wizard army (we usually play 1250 points and sometimes 2000) and the only Lords and Heroes he takes are Master/Necromancers! It's so annoying cos' whenever I charge with my Knights per say he just summons 3d6 zombies or skeletons to block my future attack. The stuff he gives to his wizards are annoying too, he has a wizard that knows three spells and all other assorted nastiness. He uses the Lore of Necromancy, he has 20 grave guard, 10 black knights millions upon millions of skeletons and zombies, banshees, a few ghouls, lots of dire wolves, fell bats and once in a while he fields a black coach. His usual tactics are just blast me to bits with magic and swarm me with skeletons and zombies.

Well, if you're playing Tzeentch/Khorne, you shouldn't be too low on dispel Dice yourself, so there shouldn't be too much magic coming through (and of course keep a good watch if he rolls a miscast ;) )
And with tzeench you should be able to blast him magically, too (I admit the Undead won't run from that alone, but it should whittle them down a little)
What works for me very well are Screamers of Tzeentch and Chaos Spawn (due to their random movement they sometimes annoy you too, but hey :shifty:  )
And in 2000 Point Games, vs. Undead, a Giant might come in rather handy (since he has no missile Troops or Artillery, being a large Target isn't that much of a problem.
His skeletons and zombies shouldn't be that devestating. Since he's got no missile weapons, take chosen warriors of khorne with extra hand weapons, and watch 21 attacks rip through his units. Also, each guy you kill means another one dies in combat resolution.
At 1250pts he is only going to have a maximum of 9 power dice, and that's if he has a power familiar. You can easily have a good bulk of troops and 6 DD at this level. Let through his attack magics and just dispel his raising magics and you should be fine.

Here is a little sample list that I would use at this points level.

Aspiring Champion of Khorne: 167pts
Sword of Might, Gaze of Gods, shield

15 Chaos Warriors of Khorne: 345 (champion here)
Full Command
Shields, extra hand weapons

16 Chaos Warriors of Khorne: 363
Full Command
Shields, extra hand weapons

20 Marauders: 165pts
Light Armour, shield
Full Command

Khorne Chariot: 150pts

5 warhounds: 30pts

5 warhounds: 30pts

This gives you some solid troops who can take on any unit of his and win. The main problem you will suffer is the fact that each of his units will be able to handle a charge from you, so what you have to do is combine your charges. Use the Chariot on a flank and the warriors in front.

The warhounds are there to distract his dire wolves and to keep them from distracting you.

Hope this helps :ninja:

Can you have that?
how can your opponent play necrach if he only uses necros?
Well you said in your first post that your opponent plays Necrach. Necrach is a vampire bloodline and since your opponent doesnt use any vampires he doesnt use any bloodlines. Since he uses no bloodlines he doesnt use Necrach.

Necromancers are just wizards not vampires. They study necromancy to cheat death, vampires drink blod to cheat death.
Thanks for telling me that, I never noticed that little cheat he did.
No prob. But its not really a cheat unless he uses bloodline percific powers or rules. he's just described his army wrong. Beat him soundly to push your point home!
Kill his Necromancers. He has to designate one as the general, and if you kill the general, his army crumbles. Literally. The only thing you have to worry about then are the other necros. He'll have difficulty raising if they just crumble to dust. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
I agree, kill the necromancers, it is difficult for him to hide them. I've fought and beaten a Necromancer army before, allow me to share my experience with you. :)

If he keeps them in units they have to go in the front rank and you can simply direct attacks against them, preferably with a Hero. Also, never challenge a Necromancer because he will simply refuse and hide in the back ranks!

If he has his Necromancers wander about the battlefield instead, you should use Flyers, skirmishers and fast cavalry to hunt them down and kill them. This isn't difficult since Necromancers are slow (unless mounted. Can they be mounted?) and weak in combat. The only thing to be aware of is that unless you can make a lightning strike with flyers or cavalry, the Necromancer will likely raise some undead to act as a shield between himself and your assassination unit if your opponent realises what you're planning.

Yes, necros can be mounted.
If he lets his mounted necros too far from his other mounted units then blast him with magic, since you really dont have any firepower baring marauder horse and the hellcannon.
also, keep it magical, like demons, because he can give his necro a cloak to make him ethereal.
Well see in 2500 pts+ he's been taking a Master Necromancer on a winged Nightmare and I find it impossible to take it down. I've been playing Tzenntch alot lately and I've usually taken a Tzenntch Lord on Dragon to counter it, but I only take one in 3000 pts.

P.S. In 2500 pts+ should I take a Hellcannon.
in 2500 pts a hellcannon is a small percentage of your points but very effective... the hellcannon could probbaly take on almost anything in his army in close combat! in addition to a S6 breath weapons and normal combat attacks... and u can also give it a demonic gift encase it gets into combat.

and dont forget the S10 templte attack lol
