hi guys my current plan to start skaven is to troll eBay for the skaven half's of the island of blood

im doing a moulder/skyrier themed army mostly skyrier warlord clan current build has lots of slaves in it and im wondering if someone can tell me how many of these i can buy before its not worth it ?

Fairly easy to find online through several sites (amazon, ebay) And I would say 3 would be plenty. Mainly for the rat ogre models (so you can have a block of 6) and the weapon teams are nice too. I'd say start with one though that way you don't get over whelmed by the sheer number of clanrats. Also plenty of people just sell the individual unit models. The two rat ogres sell on ebay for about 4 bucks American and weapon teams are around 10. Hope this helped and good luck with your army

thanks so follow up i cant have too many of the clanrats from it and sounds like your saying i dont need more then 3 sets of the rat orgers i would only need 1 set of the heros what of the rest ?

As [MENTION=87257]Lord Solar[/MENTION] stated, ebay is probably your best bet.

The heroes, weapon teams, rat ogres, and their handlers, are usually sold separately. The clanrats come in lots of 20, with either their hand weapons or their spears.

I'd suggest figuring ou ta list first, then looking at what you need from the IoB set.

Always buy in smaller lots, on ebay. A little bit of work, will make your endeavor, cheaper.

I have no expertise on Skaven, but this is contrary to my experience of eBay. I'd expect a bundle of A + B + C to sell for less as one lot than three separate lots of A, B, and C. That seems to make sense too, as someone who only wants some of the lot won't necessarily bid on the whole lot.

Of course, it only makes sense if you want most if not all of what's in the lot - i.e. if you only want clanrats then it may be better to buy them separately than pay extra for unwanted characters and Rat Ogres (and this may have been BloodRider's point) - but it's probably cheaper to buy one lot of 40 clanrats than four lots of ten.

The only issues, that I have with the IoB set, are the ROs and the PWM.

The WFTT and RG, are far better options for an "attached" weapon team.

As for the ROs, they're the weakest type. With no armor, or weapons, they're only devastating in melee. Most are shot up before then, and those that aren't, only last for a round.

If you're going the "standard" route, 2 IoB (box) lots, will give you a block of 40 clanrats and a block of 40 skavenslaves. ( There's some nice hunchback models. )
