As the title says, I need a nasty drop pod list.

Epostilary - fury, fear 129
8 command marines - vet with honours and fist, apothecary, bp's, 2 meltaguns, pod with launcher 245

Elites
Dread - twinlas, armour, smoke, pod 163
Dread - armour, smoke, pod 143

Troops
8 Marines - vet with honours and fist, bp's, 2 plasmaguns, pod 205

yeah not bad ;)

i wouldnt give a tank killing dread a drop pod though (the one with the lascannons)
Also the apothecary might be a bit of a waste of points.

drop that 1 pod and the apothecary and use the points to boost 1 or 2 of the tac squads up to 10 man squads

Yeah good advice but I'm thinking about how dead that dread would be sitting there by itself, it wouldn't be able to shoot anyway just because you're hiding it. Not sure but thanks anyway.

ok i play a drop pod list too and let me say do NOT leave something out of a drop pod. The TLLC dread is meant to kill tanks... true, but in a drop pod list its designed to assault after its killed the tank (hopefully after it lands) Otherwise massed drop pods will block your fields of fire.

Also, drop the launcher on the drop pod. They can easily get out of range and ull never hit cuz of BS2

ALso, put some wargear on the librarian. Just give him at least a bolt pistol, combat shield and termie honours.

Well then youve come to the right place.

HQ
Epostilary - fury, fear 129
8 command marines - vet with honours and fist, apothecary, bp's, 2 meltaguns, pod with launcher 245
I strongly ignorage you to make this a chaplain with assault squad, keeping one squad out of line of sight is pretty easy.

Failing that, termintors would make a better choice, with the lib having fear of the darkness, and 2 assault cannons.

Dread - twinlas, armour, smoke, pod 163
Dread - armour, smoke, pod 143
Id limit yourself to only one dread, and if you take ti give it an assault cannon.
Troops
8 Marines - vet with honours and fist, bp's, 2 plasmaguns, pod 205

8 Marines - vet with honours and fist, bp's, 2 meltaguns, pod 205

Make at least 3 of them melta squads.

Good?
Not bad, but things starting on the ground makes drop pods WAY better, because it forces your oponent to spread out, instead of allowing them to huddel together.

Good squads to think about: Devs 4ML 4 Bolters, Assault squads with a chaplain, Torandos, nothing like 7 AP 4 shots to thin out hord armies before you land. Peace

Ok I needed it fast, sorry should have mentioned it, but this is what I've just had a battle against:

Epostilary - fury, fear, terminator armour 154
4 Termies - 2 assault cannons, drop pod 230

Dread - twinlas, armour, smoke, pod 163
Dread - armour, smoke, pod 143

10 Marines - 2 plasma, bg's, pod 205
10 Marines - plasma, hb, bg's, pod 195
8 Marines - vet with fist, 2 melta's, bg's, pod 205
8 Marines - vet with fist, 2 melta's, bg's, pod 205

It was a draw which means the list is pretty good. I'm not sure what I would have changed to make it better (I didn't use the list, I faced it).

Expecting another game, so more suggestions are still welcome. Listening to the 1 dread + LST's advice, I think I'll try it.

you dont need a ton of melta, because you wont get to the charge every time. maybe consider some flamers depending on what you play against.

Countering drop pods with drop pods isnt a good idea.

My best advise would be to go second. And use the list i advised you to take last time.
Your really not getting it.

He needed the list for a friend who was playing SMs.

He made up the list for a friend, and just had the battle against it.

Sounds like to me that he played agaisnt it. (Hence I faced it) But if the list isnt for him, he shouldnt be making it, as that gives him to much knowledge about the weakness of the list.

Some LSTs or LSw/MM might be worth taking. IMO u could get two LS w/MM and DS them...that'd probably solve ur AT problem, allowing tac squads to get more plasma guns for rapid firing.

The whole point is that I face a nasty drop pod list, I need practice. I'm using my tau.

4 Termies - 2 assault cannons, chainfist, furious charge, pod 247

6 Marines - plasmaguns, lascannon, pod 145

8 Marines - 2 plasmaguns, pod 175
10 Marines - fist, 2 meltaguns, pod 235

LST - assault cannon, heavy bolter 80
