Hi I am from New Brunswick in the region of Moncton and I play this game on tuesdays. I only have three games under my belt but I need help since my list is not good. I just want to know what I could do with my troop choice. I really want to keep my Prince on Griffin since he is my favorite minature and all. I won two of my games so I am not horrible since I kill the warrior of Chaos and the Scaven when they used their damn screaming bell at 2k points games but lost versus the Vampires count (damn regeneration)

This is what I have but I am in budget so please try to be reasonable for what you tell me to get. I play 2000 points game would like 2400 pts since that is the line of the players in my region plays in tournaments and the campaign that is currently going on.

1 Prince on Griffin
2 Mage
36 Lotherin Sea guards
19 Swordsmen (I lost one :( but people are nice so might be able to get a free one or just use empty square)
20 Archers
5 Phoenix Guards
10 Carveries with bows that suck you know the ones lol

That is all I have but I might buy more but wont be quickly will be over time.

Well, my suggestion has always been the same for HE in 8th edition. The core of our army should always be:
1. Mage - at least 1 Lvl2, with access to the Lore of Life, preferably a guaranteed "Regrowth". You should probably take the Seer Staff, just so that you can pick your spells, and take Throne of Vines and Regrowth. That's bringing back D6+1 models where you need them.

2. Battle Standard Bearer - give him a Great Weapon, and probably magic armor, Armor of Destiny works well for the Wardsave.

3. 2x Spear or LSG regiments of 20-30 members.

4. 19 Phoenix Guard, escorting your Battle Standard Bearer or your Mage (or 18, and escort both)

5. 2x Regiment of 10 Elite Infantry (Swordmasters or White Lions) without Commands

That should bring you in around 2k. You'd only need to buy another box or so of the plastic PGs (excellent models anyways), some more Spearmen models, and a Noble kit. The PGs are going to be the expensive part, unfortunately, but they're too good to pass up. I would start by picking up the Noble kit. Adding a BSB to any of your lists is a must, and the rerolls will make your army feel a lot more stable. Next would be the Spears (possibly get them cheap from someone's IoB) so that you can have 2 regiments of 20. If you get a full box of 16, you'll have enough models to go with regiments of 25, which is about right for most games. By then you can probably look towards grabbing your extra PGs to round out your 2.5k list. You'd also likely have enough models (archers, cavalry, second noble, extra mage) to field up to a 3k army with some creativity.

Hope this helps you out!

um alright I will be honest the PG are not as good I see them get destroyed each battle from one other he player that plays in the region but he is rarely there he said that pg are not as good unless against lots of magic.

I also said from the beginning I want to keep my Prince....

but your advice would be good if I wanted to place more cash that I wanted too.

Anyway thanks for the tips but I never really saw them as good compared the swordsmen but maybe to protect the mage with its ward save of 4+
