I'm kind of confused as to what to do...basically my army is currently painted with armour Hawk Turquoise, and cloth Skull White. My battlesuits are similiar, with the XV15s Storm Blue. I have been happy with this scheme, but I keep looking online and in the Codex and thinking how nice some of the paint jobs other guys have... I was wondering whether you guys had any suggestions of a new paint job I could try out. I like my blues and I'd like to include Skull White in it....

PS, for those who were following my fanfic, it has basically become tedious with exams coming in two weeks, and the pressure of putting up a new segment every night that I put myself under was becoming unmanageable. I am managing to work on it here and there, but since I need to edit some parts to coincide with new fluff from Fire Warrior, no new stuff yet. Sorry, guys. :(

Forgive me for my ignorance, but what looks good on Fire Warriors doesn't necessarily look good on battlesuits and tanks. But fine, yes, sorry not to have noticed the topic. No need to be snide about it.

you could paint a character like an ethereal or aun'shi. you can paitn those totaly different but they will still fit your army's colorsceme. you could also paint kroot that have a totaly different colorsceme. another option is making every unit a bit different of the other units. like painting 1 FW squad with white/turquois and the other FW squad with white/Scaly Green.

but thats just my humble opinion

The Tau generally seem more practical in their martial traditions than the rest of the 40k world to me, so I'm in favor of a camoflauge scheme of some sort. Most 40k armies seem to wear their dress uniforms, (nice purdy color markings on their armor, etc.), to battle. I imagine the Tau as being less gawdy, and so more likely to try and blend in.

So, you could try using the same colors to make a camo scheme for some snow/winter/mountain/tundra Tau. I'm not an experienced painter, but I've been thinking about painting a color scheme, than going over the whole thing with dull greys/browns/blacks in a rough pattern, not to make em look dirty as is common, but to make it look like their uniform itself is a mottled camoflauge of some sort.

If you want to do your own little scheme, try thinking about what sort of conditions they usually fight in. Then work from that.

yes i think like papabear that the colors of the tau have to be practical. thats why i painted my tau yellow/white t omake it a dessertfighting army. its good camouflage and it looks good. only my ethereal isn't that color, but he has to shine up in your army because he is my leader.

I paint my guuys with white armor and urban camo underneath. And red line because its a contrasting color. My fire warrior team leaders have red flames on the helmet.

I paint my tau army differnetly ´cause my army is diferenced in "casts" for. examp:
my fire warrior squad is enchanted blue with red waepons and gold and brown washed symbols of cast (fire), ´cause they are called (in english) air spiders...
u understand me? my elements of army are called and painted for they function...
and off course to diference Shas´O from crisis battlesuit leader :)

My scheme is dry-brushed Chaos Black under suit with Kommando Khaki and Boltgun Metal armor on Fire Warriors, Crisis suits are dry-brushed Chaos Black with Boltgun Metal armor, Stealth are Scorpion Green undersuit Snot Green Armor with slashes of grey brown and black all over.

Another very cool but also very time consuming armor scheme is a base color of either Kommando Khaki or Dark Angels Green followed by tiny over-lapping specks of grey, brown, black, and light green. It looks awesome but takes about 1.5 - 2 hours per Fire Warrior (and that is only on the armor!!!)

I wonder what a Night World Tau Army would look like.......
