So, you buy a lamp from a mysterious stranger, rub it and ~hey presto~ a genie appears. He offers you three wishes to change the way GW operates.
My three:

  • Show more interest to Specialist Games: stock some of the products in store, bring back Fanatic Magazine (or at least the Citadel Journal), new minatures and the occasional White Dwarf article.
  • Being able to buy components of the miniatures again
  • Get rid of those horrible spikes from Chaos Space Marines. I've always hated them, especially on the Terminators. Was lazy sculpting - rather than makes these ultra-ornate suits (much older and war-torn than current Marine armour) they just added spikes.
It felt it churlish to say "Get rid of LOTR" as I know a lot of people like it. I might have mentioned White Dwarf too but I've felt the past year's worth of WD to have had a real upswing in quality (or at least, things I want to read about).

Also, please keep it nice. No personal attacks on any of the GW staff. It's just supposed to be a bit of fun on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

1.) Add a forum to their website where people can ask rules questions
2.) Hire someone to read that forum regularly, answer rules questions that have answers in the rules in a consistent fashion, and catalog questions that don't have answers in the rules
3.) Have that someone routinely (on a quarterly basis) release Errata documents for each of their rules documents for all of their game systems which comprehensively resolve un-answered rules questions and FAQ documents for the same which answer common questions.

1)All armies are treated with the exact same amount of attention. ie. Dark Eldar . . .
2)More emphasis on local hobby, general hobby and gaming related stuff in the white dwarf, to actually make it worth $14 rather than it being a glorified catalogue.
3) Get rid of LOTR, haha just kidding :p . . . possibly release beta codexes to select gaming groups for test play to iron out rules issues.

Cheers

Nah, don't drop LotR. I don't really like it anymore, and also it's modelling range is quite restricted due to 1 component miniatures and no options, but it is very handy to get younger children into the hobby. Hell, I got into this myself starting with LotR ( lots of dwarf mini's. )

1: New warhammer dwarves release! ( well, you asked what I'd wanna wish for. )

2: Update those older or outdated armybooks, not just the ones most people play. When you update them they will get new attention from the public. ( dark eldar and Necrons for the 40K people, and for fantasy Ogre kingdoms, tomb kings, and to lesser extent bretts, Orcs&goblins, dwarfs )

3: More emphasis on hobbying in WD and other. I think it would actually be awesome if you had an issue and each page featured an army of an unknow hobbyist, with some accompanying babble. Show off some cool armies people make around the world ( doesn't need to be golden demon standard ).

I liked the forum idea too.

-Lower prices
-Bring back WD of old. Chapter Approved was worth the cost alone.
-More frequent Erratas, with a forum where rules queries can be done.

Heck, I'm still waiting for the genie to show up that will make me rich, good-looking and successful, but since we're talking about GW:

--Bring back the old WD, including Chapter Approved. Including REAL battle reports wouldn't hurt, either.
--Update ALL the codices/army books BEFORE you update the rules, and don't create any NEW codices/army books/products in general that you're not prepared to support long-term.
--Bring back the forums, and make sure the developers see/post there regularly. No better way to stay in touch with your fans. You know, the customers.

I didn't include LOTR in there, only because I've heard that from a rules perspective, WHFB could learn a thing or two from LOTR, but I don't know for sure since I don't play either.

This sound fun :D

1 - Reduce Prices

2 - Bring back the Forums (and actually read them)

3 - Bring back the glory days of WD (Paul Sawyer, Mike Walker, Chapter Approved, Army showcase from a customer a month, stories, scenarios, Fair - not rigged - battle reports. You know, like a REAL Magazine :p)

I never thought of the Paul Sawyer days of White Dwarf as a high point - I'd honestly say it's less of a catalogue now. He seemed like a nice guy and everything but the content often left me cold. Epic was a big deal then (supposedly a 'core' game), and Blood Bowl/Mordheim/Gorkamorka/Necromunda weren't compeltely forgotten about either.

He does deserve credit for Tale Of Four Gamers though.

1.) Focus evenly on all armies (no SM favouring, update DE etc)
2.) Buy individual parts
3.) Lower prices. Seriously. It's not even funny any more.

I know all of these things have been said before, but these are what I would have said :p

  1. Open source the rules so that everyone can use them for free and contribute to making them better. Then GW can focus entirely on the story and models of 40K.

  2. Allow players to send in their unused bits for a discount, and sell those bits online.

  3. Erase kill points - they never existed! :D

1) Stop pricing models on how good they are in a game.

2) Treat the gamers who made you what you are today as more than just money dispensers.

3) Please stop the madness, write a little bit of fluff about how EVERY space marine in the galaxy congregates on a planet and how that planet mysteriously blows up, killing them all.

Support the hobby outside the store. I know that, at least in Australia, there have been countless community services for the hobby with no GW acknowledgement (apart from the odd IP protection order), let alone support.

Better support of the hobby WITHIN the stores. It is funner (and sells better) if the store doesn't feel like a business, but more like a...er ... pub? This means having redshirts who, as you enter the store, exclaim "do you want a game!?" rather then "look, new LoTR models! Buy them!".

No Codex/Army Book creap. Please. Balance would be nice too.

1. Put Aus pricing in line with UK pricing, seriously, I dont buy anything from here anymore if its not direct only.

2.No more marine chapter books, they should have just rolled them all into the newest codex.

3.Official Bits store, never be short on meltaguns again!

1- The bit I need appears right in front of me whenever I need it. Failing that, bring back the bit's store, I want the bike from the ravenwing master.

2- A whole year without any space marine releases.

3- Bring back the country specific GW sites, while still keeping the current one available. OzGamesWorkshop was the bomb!

1- Gamesworkshop official forums would be pretty neat. (Assuming GW development employees actually read and post on them)

2- Cheaper prices across the board. It really is getting too expensive for small pieces of plastic.

3- More graphic novels (plenty of content for Imperial Guard and Marines, not too much for everyone else)

Time was, GW did have them. But they closed them down (They said, if I rememebr, due to in activity. I just think people were slating them on them too much. :))

1) Redo the Chaos Marines codex please. I woudl like to see it more like the old one (Though obviously, none of the messing with FoCs, and no Siren!). I would like to see a redo of Choas full stop. Incorporate a LaTD style army in (Give us mutants, able to take marks, and basic traitor guard stuff). this would allow us to represent Zombies, Beastment, etc etc in the codex. Also give us some legion specifics (Like how Space Marines get characters that change units. Talonmaster makes Raptors scoring or troops, 'Alpharius' makes Chosen, Etc.

2) Fix broken units please. I don't often like to cry cheese, but the only unit I always feel I need to, is TH/SS Termies (And to a lesser extent Vanguard with the setup). Either limit them in the squad, make the SS save weaker (4++?), or make it only able to be taken against combat (Lets me shoot them).

3) Inquisiton codex! (Though this may come true soon. :))
