Being a codex option, drop pods are as legal as anything else.
Thanks. Does anyone have a link for me so i can show the tournement organizer
that they are legal?
Just point them to your codex....

The only things not allowed in Tournaments are Chapter Approved things like Armoured Companies, or Forgeworld models like a Baneblade.

If something is in your codex, it's a perfectly legal option. I can't imagine them ever even trying to query it.

I highly doubt you'll find such a link - the rules are in the codex. The very fact that the rules are in the main section of the codex means that they're legal to use in Tournaments. They function just like any other transport - does he not allow you to take Rhinos?
the only model for it is the Forge world one but somewhere I heard that GW will let you use it in a tourney untill they make their own

They are legal, and your going to want to make your own unless you want to spend the money on the forge world one!

HPA
If the guy in the store doesn't let you use drop pods just smash his head in to the gaming table then point to the SM Codex where it CLEARLY STATES under the special rules section that you can use drop pods and the rules for using them are in there..

Sorry but some of the guys in the stores (not all of them) are complete idiots sometimes and dont deserve the job they have..
Aidan, I see from another post that you don't have the Codex. You really need to get one of these, if for no other reason than so you can know the rules for your own army. That and either the Big Gray Book or the little rulebook from the MacCragge box are pretty much required material. I know money doesnt grow on trees (particularly when you are 13 :) ) and that GW products are expensive, but you can find cheaper alternatives than retail price. I got the small rulebook from MacCragge on Ebay for about $12 (just the book) and I got a decent price for my Codex on Amazon.

Of course, in a couple of years, there will be new rules and these will be worthless, but then you can add them to your collection... the art and miniture pictures are nice, at least. In my collection I have: Slaves of Darkness, Lost and the Damned, Rogue Trader, Dark Millenium, old rulebook, old SM Codex... They are worthless, but cool to take down and read occaisionally.
I actually just received my FIRST OF MANY Drop Pod models from Forge World and the Model is real nice..

Put it this way, I am making an entire Drop Pod force called force ''Heavens Descent'' as a rapid reaction force in my army and the guy in the GW store said ''yeah, you can use Drop Pods, espicially if you have the models to represent them.

I intend on getting about 8 normal and 2 dread drop pods and if someone in the store denies me the opportunity to use them I wont be a happy bunny and will just point to the rules for them.. Remember that the rules also state (to the annoyance of some and to pleasure of many a SM player) that regardles of the scenario, SM can always deploy via Drop Pod regardless of rules for the scenario.

They basically count as a Transport Option instead of say a Rhino, Rzrback or Land Raider.. So saying you cant use them is like saying you cant use a Rhino, to some extent. Like Caluin said before:

So dont worry buddy they are LEGAL.. Happy gaming young SM player!!

I could always *cough* Ban you for suggesting that. Not that I would, I just know a guy, who knows a guy who saw someone ban someone once. ;)

*grin* Consider it a friendly warning pal. :)
