Being a codex option, drop pods are as legal as anything else.

Aidan, I see from another post that you don't have the Codex. You really need to get one of these, if for no other reason than so you can know the rules for your own army. That and either the Big Gray Book or the little rulebook from the MacCragge box are pretty much required material. I know money doesnt grow on trees (particularly when you are 13 
) and that GW products are expensive, but you can find cheaper alternatives than retail price. I got the small rulebook from MacCragge on Ebay for about $12 (just the book) and I got a decent price for my Codex on Amazon.
Of course, in a couple of years, there will be new rules and these will be worthless, but then you can add them to your collection... the art and miniture pictures are nice, at least. In my collection I have: Slaves of Darkness, Lost and the Damned, Rogue Trader, Dark Millenium, old rulebook, old SM Codex... They are worthless, but cool to take down and read occaisionally.
