Iron Hands 1000pnt list

Hey all, first post as a new member/player to 40k.

Currently my choice army is black templars, but i like to tinker around with other armys Im thinking about playing in the future (i have a weakness for buying codexes before getting any units). I was drawing up a list for BT when I decided to also make lists for Iron Hands and SoB, so heres the former.

HQ

Iron Father Sammael - 140 pnts
-Servo Harness, Iron Halo, bionics (for fluff)

Elites

Dreadnought - 110 pnts
-Extra armor, assault cannon, DCCW
+30 pnts Droppod

Troops


Tac Squad x10 - 210 pnts
-meltagun, Vet Sarge w/ Terminator armor, pwrfist, stormbolter

Tac Squad x6 - 115 pnts
-lascannon, plasmagun

Fast Attack
Landspeeder Tornado - 80pnts

Heavy Support
Devastator Squad x 8 200pnts
-x4 missle launchers

Predator Destructor 115 pnts
-bolter sponsons, extra armor

TOTAL: 1000pnts on the mark

Ill post my current BT list later, but let me know how this list turned out. FYI im using the Iron hands traits as listed in Codex: SM

I know that this is purely for fluff, but remember, this isn't going to help you that much.

Dreadnought - 110 pnts

Drop storm bolter to a BP, you need that extra powerfist attack, try to give 'em a drop pod.

-lascannon, plasmagun
Good.

Fast Attack
Landspeeder Tornado - 80pnts

Heavy Support
Devastator Squad x 8 200pnts
-x4 missle launchers
Good.

Predator Destructor 115 pnts
-bolter sponsons, extra armor
Definetly don't take an autocannon, go with lascannon turret and HB sponsons.

For points, I would drop 2 or 3 guys int he ten man tactical squad.

Thanks for the feedback.

I dunno if i could take a dp with the terminator armored sargent tac squad. Is there a faq that clarifies this?

Ill think about switching the Pred's turret. Giving it a lascannon would let it multi-task, but then it would loose some of its dedicated infantry-killing power.

Mixed armour rule, terminator armour won't work good enough and it's kinda strange, 1 behemoth sergeant and 9 tiny power armoured lads.. So drop the terminator armour and get bp/pf. The rest, is good

Try to get the tank hunter skill (SNTWOH), if you can sneak up some points from somewhere else.

Apparently it's very common among the Iron Hands. They almost never field full terminator squads in the fluff, instead mixing them in with the other troops as inspiration.

It sucks that mixed armour went and ruined the idea though.
Yeah, i was going by fluff when I put that terminator in the large squad. I'll probably be taking it out to free up points for upgrades and the like, but in a larger game I'll be sticking the Termie back in, just 'caus its Iron Hands.

Thanks for the tip about SNTWOH. Ill be switching between this and Heed the Wisdom just to see which is better/more fun.
Heed the wisdom of the ancients can make a suprisingly shooty and assaulty list, but dreadnaughts hate stuff like lascannons so it is a bit of a case of 'all your eggs in one basket'.

It does lead to some very fluffy armies but needs to be careful.
Cool list

I would keep the Termie Sergeant anyway - it makes for a cool looking squad.

You could take out on squadmember to free up points for other upgrades.

And no, he cannot take a BP with the Termie armour.
