Hmmm

Chaos Lord or Daemon Prince depending on whether you like characters

two squads of eight CSM ( hey you get eight in a box )

three obliterators if you can afford them

a squad of havocs, I'd go missle launchers or autocannons

No idea how many points it comes to, but it should leave plenty of points over for wargear and maybe another unit.

do that for sure
you could orginise it like this

2 ten man squads mounted in rhinos

the four dudes left over could be used as havocs ( if you have some Hvy weaps )
the champion could be used for the havoc squad

then all you need is to get a suitible mini for your leader and badda bing badda boom you have a chaos force.

just a word of warning, under the trial vehicle rules rhinos ( infact all transports )
became alot more vulnerable, leaving you with horribly exposed troops, however these are only trial rules and you and your opponent have to agree before using them...so just don't use them.

BTW alot of gamers complained to GW about them, so they will probably be changed before 4th ed. hits the shelves next year.

Every squad in my Dark Sons army is seven strong, including my bike squad which I'm painting at the moment ( and there's alot to paint )

Also your Chaos Lord is considered a Daemon Prince because he has 60pts of Daemonic gifts. After you've done this army a few vehicle oculd easily get you near 2000pts
