Do you think thatthe krotshould be able to take a warsphere as a transport option, or do yu think that it is unneeded. I was thinking about making one.

Also i think you should be able to upgrade youre ethereal so youre fire warriors dont runaway. I was thinking some thing like this.......

Beloved Leader.........50 pts
This replaces The cost of Falure. allunits(not including kroot or drones) become fearless and must advance 3 inches toward the enimie and never count as moving for the purose of firing weapons, and the also donot have to take difficult terrian test. And this occures when the ethereal dies.

I think this fit the fluff very well. In the codex it says when so especially beloved ethereals die that they slowy advance toward the enimie pour shots into them as they advance.

i was also thinking that the kroot needs transports so they can actually be usefull and hit some heavy weapons unit in the back and stuff. i was thinking it shoudl be a cross between a speeder and a wartrukk. maybe closed topped, 10 def all around, fast skimmer.

I don't think the kroot should be able to have skimmer technology of their own. Their primitive war spheres are likely borrowed from Ork technology, and the Orks don't have skimmers.

Obviously the Tau do, but I don't see them giving it to the Kroot.
(they're meant to sneak through the woods anyway)

@exploited:
I think a warsphere is a little big to be taken as a transport in a 40k game.

If their leader is so beloved ,then when he dies, the tau would be more likely to charge blindly at the enemy moving their full distance ech turn, and fire at the closest enemy models, and get +2 initiative +1 strength -1 ws in close combat to represent their furverous rage(of course this wouldn't apply to kroot or drones)

I think warspheres are bigger than an orca or a thunderhawk, they're the kroot's only mentioned space faring vessel. And its described as huge and lumbering when the Imperium encounters one in the damocles gulf crusade.

As for the ethereal, well that parts tricky. If I had something good to say about it I would, :D

I mean... moving and shooting all weapons is a big bonus. Though of course, being forced to move towards the enemy could be considered a counter for it...

I dunno, it's tricky. For one thing, I don't think the rule should be so good that people would want their ethereals to kick the bucket... And probably not so forceful either. (limit it to firewarriors, or units in a radius, or something).

I think it's a good idea, as I think the regular ethereal death rules are stupid. (it's a HUGE penalty to put on a character that isnt that good in the first place) But, perhaps some smaller changes would be better.

Maybe you should suggest ways of making the ethereal better while he's alive, so that people are more interested in taking and keeping him. Then the death will seem more balanced as well.

maybe you flip a coin (or roll a dice) for each unit when your ethereal dies, 50 % chance that they run away, 50 % chance that they attack. That would also fit the fluff.

or units within a 12" radius are the only ones affected by the run away thing, but i think walruz has hit the nail on the head. the fws advance 6", instead of 3"

No ofcourse they would blindly charge, it says in the codex that when an especially beloved leader dies the SLOWLY advance pouring hails of gunfire into the enimie.

i think instead of charging, the fire warriors has more common sense and should get to shoot whatever they see. its kinda like the opposite of khorne berzerkers (which they totally are) berzerkers dont shoot when they go crazy, they know they'll do more damage when they cc. it should be the same with tau but they should shoot.

Exploited makes a good point though. It clearly says in the codex that when an Ethereal dies the Tau sometimes advance in a steady rage, pouring firepower into their enemies as they move. There are no rules for this though, and the regular leadership tests that the Tau take when an Ethereal dies seem counter to this.

I would like to see some rule that represents this as the fluff presents it.

Dont lower their weapon skill more. Crap they wont be able to hit anything then.

I like the rule idea for etherals and I think the point coast is about right too.
I wish etherals coould buy hw shield generators like aunshi, thats a side note though.
