Just with a little thinking about it this is what I came up with. Try doing a simple node campaign with about 4 missions for each player that is interested. Divide the players into two teams and give the campaign a common storyline. At each stage you have certain objectives that need to be fulfilled, but the teams can work out which player they want to tackle each objective giving a bit of strategy gaming.
Level 1 - The offensive forces land
Offensive Forces - Objective 1 - Secure the Spaceport Tower to allow reinforcements (Take and Hold)
Objective 2 - Conduct a Night Time Raid on the Facility from another angle to guarantee control
Defenders - Objective 1 - We have spotted a weakness in the enemy landing zone. Hit this spot and break through to assist our other forces (Offensive forces would defend on a rearguard mission)
Objective 2 - Seek and Destroy any landing forces.
So in this first part four battles would be fought (8 players over two teams), each team gets an equal opportunity to attack and defend and the players from each team can allocate who gets to take each role, eg they may send the Imperial Guard player with armor to defend the spaceport and the dark eldar player for the counter attack.
After this throw in some KillTeam, some Combat Patrol maybe to speed things up and work from there. This is just an idea though. A map could be drawn up to give the fluff/story background.
