I've read some threads on it, and alot of people swear by it, but others say you can fit and switch weapons on crisis suits just fine once it's primed. I had to buy my suits before the update due to a once a year 25% off sale, and everyone says not to glue until you see the new weapons. However, I still want to play with them before then, so what should I do?

I would mount them magetically until the new codex is out, then you can either rip the magnets off to have a more permenant fixture or attach magnets to any of the new weapons so you have supreme versatility for whatever loadout you want.

The question is either do bees like shredded ricotta cheese, or should I magnetically mount them or instead, prime them and fit them on that way (the weapons, not the bees). both answers would be best.

Well I would have to test the first part using the scientific method, IE: finding a suitable source of common bee, then presenting them with a suitable amount of standardized ricotta cheese... for this to work I will need to test this scenario in myriad ways so expect answers in a 3-7 page report in about 2 months.

as for the other, generally speaking if a model costs over $5 USD generally, I will magnetize whatever arms, joints, or commonly used wargear just because I like my models WYSIWYG and its really not much work at all. well except the extra painting and such.. but my terminators are all magnetised, and they are great for on the fly conversions to better suit an opponent.

Urbanknight, you should really be presenting 3 identical sets of shredded ricotta cheese to 3 sets of identical bees that are sperate as to not influence the results of each other's tests. Also make sure you have a set of control bees to compare your results to.

I don't know about bees (wasps yes; bees might be different. will wait for UrbanKnight's report.) but I do know about magnets.

I :wub: magnets.

As UrbanKnight said above, it's not really that much work and it's the only way to go if you really want your models to be WYSIWYG. It's not just weapons, I do my upgrades as well. It's great to be able to tell at a glance if you bought that 5 pt upgrade this game or cut it to shave points.

I also use magnets on some things that just break off too often in transport, such as antenae arrays on vehicles. I have magnets in the bases of my drones, and on the tips of the flying stands, so they can be detached and stored separately, yet don't fall apart during play.

Using magnets I have made all my hammerheads convertable into devilfish. Now if I decide to buy & use a sky ray I can still utilize my "surplus" HH as a DF, yay.

On my crisis suits, I even green-stuffed over the magnets and the slots, sanded it all down smooth, and painted over it. I'm really pleased with the effect; they look great whether I'm using 2 hard points or all 4. (I use two when I twin-link missile pods, the magnets are strong enough I can stack the second one on top of the first one, typically on a sholder mount.)

I've tried the slot-tab thing on the crisis suits, but it just doesn't work as well, at least for me. And it isn't even an option for all the other places I use magnets.

Ok I think I see now, magnets are the best way to go if I want to switch weapons. Now as for the bees, we'll also need to look at different species of bees, whether they're africanized, and other factors. It could open up a whole new world of bee/cheese research, such as cheddar or swiss.

The only magnets I use are on my Hammerheads so I can switch railguns with ioncannons. Which i've found I never use anymore. Anyway all weapons for my crisis suits stay on the arm and shoulder mounts just fine by themselves, no gluing or magnets needed. Try that first and if they don't stay then magnets may be neccessary.

One final note: It's much easier if you install magenets BEFORE you paint your models, for obvious reasons. And for certain conversion-type installations, such as the ever-popular DF-to-HH, it's easier to do before the model is fully assembled and glues.

You can save yourself a lot of trouble if you decide now which way you are going to go. Not that it's impossible to retrofit magnets into your models, but it sucks to have to repaint/repair around each magnet you mount. Trust me on this.:yes:
